Capital One® Credit Card Security Features

Learn about the account features helping you protect yourself from fraud, so you can shop with more confidence

With Capital One credit cards, you have a number of security features looking out for you. No matter where you are or how busy you get, the tools you need to help you stay on top of your account are at your fingertips.

And you can access and enable features by adding the Capital One Mobile app to your phone or by signing in to your account online.

Here are some of the digital security features and benefits available.

Fraud Alerts and Liability Coverage

With just a few steps, you can help stop fraudulent activity in its tracks. Add your phone number to your account to automatically get alerts when there’s suspicious activity on your account.

If it turns out a suspicious charge wasn’t something you authorized and was the result of your card being lost or stolen, Capital One has you covered. With $0 Fraud Liability, you won’t be responsible for unauthorized charges.1

Card Lock

It’s incredibly frustrating to lose or misplace a credit card—much less have it stolen. The good news is, you can instantly lock your card to temporarily prevent it from being used for purchases.2 And if you find it, you can unlock it just as easily to use your card like normal again.

Instant Purchase Notifications

Keep track of your spending in real time. Anytime your card is approved for a transaction, you can enable notifications that include the amount of the purchase and information about the merchant.

It’s an extra layer of confidence, so you’re in the know when purchases hit your account. Plus, you can also set up alerts to notify you about your balance and recurring payments.

Paperless Statements

Keep your monthly statements online and avoid having them get lost or stolen in the mail. By going paperless, you get the peace of mind of knowing exactly where your information is stored. And you save some paper while doing it. Plus, you still have 24/7 access to your statements online.

Eno®, Your Capital One Assistant

Eno works 24/7 to help you keep your account secure. That includes monitoring your charges, tracking your spending and providing answers on the spot. And Eno is available everywhere you are—through texting, email alerts, mobile app alerts and online.

Account Alerts

Once you’re enrolled, Eno automatically sends helpful alerts about your account activity. For example, if you accidentally click “purchase now” more than once when shopping online, you might wind up getting charged twice. With Eno, you’ll get an alert about that duplicate charge.

Or if a recurring charge is higher than usual, Eno will let you know about the change. That may be helpful if a cable or cell phone bill spikes—this feature lets you see whether it’s legitimate or an error in the company’s billing.

Virtual Card Numbers

Want to keep your credit card number private when shopping online? Eno allows you to keep your actual credit card number under wraps and pay with a virtual card number. It’s a simple and more secure way to purchase online items. And it’s easy to get started. Here’s how:

  1. Add Eno to your browser.
  2. Click the Eno icon when you’re ready to pay. A site-specific virtual card number will be generated. No need to reach for your wallet!
  3. Lock or unlock your virtual card numbers anytime without affecting your other spending.

And virtual card numbers keep working even if you get a replacement card. So there’s no need to manually update your card information on sites where you’ve stored a virtual card number. Eno will handle it behind the scenes, automatically.
