Maze is a mathematician turned YouTube star and mother of seven. She’s the matriarch behind the MAZELEE Family blog, which focuses on family-oriented multicultural media and sharing the successes and struggles of a large family. 

Maze shares how she turned her kitchen into a barista bar so that her kids could shake up their routine before their days of homeschooling. Follow her tips, and turn your own kitchen into a coffee shop.

How to DIY a Barista Bar:

  1. Decant: Take your coffee beans, hot cocoa, chai, matcha and even vitamins out of their packaging and place them into nice labeled jars on the counter—each with its own scooper. It looks more attractive and organized than cluttering the counter with different types of bags and boxes.

  2. Decorate: Throw a plant in the mix to really make people forget they’re in the middle of your kitchen.  

  3. Cups: Tasty drinks need something to hold them, and what better way to tie the bar together while making it easy for everyone to serve themselves? 

  4. Snacks: Kids need more than just hot cocoa for breakfast, so put a nice fruit bowl and nuts out at the drink station so your family can grab and go in the morning. 

  5. Garnishes: Display mint leaves and candy canes in a jar. Not only does it look nice, but it also gives everyone a chance to spice up their morning beverages and take them to the next level. You can also set out some flavored syrups on the counter, if that’s your thing. 

  6. Cream: Maze prefers oat milk, but whatever you choose, pour it in a nice container to really get those coffee shop vibes.

  7. Enjoy: You’ve officially turned your kitchen into a barista bar. Now sit back and enjoy a hot beverage. You’ve earned it.
