Changing banking for good

Culture & community

From rooftop beehives to wildlife habitats, we’re fostering a more sustainable campus culture.

Our campus culture

We strive to create an environment where our associates (and even wildlife!) can thrive. From our campuses designated as Certified Wildlife Habitats, to hosting virtual, educational events, we design experiences that bring out the best in our associates and the world around us.

People & Initiatives

The buzz about bees

The importance of bee pollination

Bees play a vital role in our ecosystem, pollinating more than 130 varieties of fruits and vegetables around the globe. They are responsible for more than $15 billion in increased crop value each year, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). Yet, their populations are declining worldwide.

Capital One installed its first rooftop beehive in Chicago in 2019, and has since added 6 more locations, housing more than 500,000 bees across our US locations.

Volunteer Green Teams

Making a difference, together

Volunteer Green Teams are made up of associates who are passionate about reducing their environmental impact at home, at work and in their communities.

Our Green Teams support corporate sustainability initiatives, drive sustainability in their workplaces and increase associate engagement and education.

Clean Commuting

Electric vehicle charging on campus

We have more than 100 electric vehicle (EV) charging ports at six sites, with more on the way.

We also offer campus bikes with racks to park them and access to public transit at our sites in northern VA, enabling more eco-friendly commuting options.
