Food and music are central both to the character of New Orleans and to one of its most celebrated chefs: Nina Compton. Her restaurants, Compère Lapin and Bywater American Bistro, combine Caribbean, Creole, French, Southern and Italian influences. Born in St. Lucia, Nina is helping restore the Caribbean identity that defined much of New Orleans’ early history. Today she shares her favorite spots in the Big Easy, including a butcher shop, a music club and her own restaurant.
