FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

There are three ways members can apply for the REI Co-op Mastercard:

  • In-store text to apply: Text to apply allows the member to apply for the REI Co-op Mastercard through their personal mobile device.
  • In-store tablet: If a member does not have a mobile device with them or would prefer not to use it to apply, they may apply on a tablet provided by an REI employee.
  • Online: Members can also apply for the REI Co-op Mastercard online through the REI website at REI.com/mastercard.

You can use your card anywhere Mastercard credit cards are accepted.

You can shop at REI with your Total REI Rewards. Only the primary member or cardmember (not a spouse or other family member) may redeem their Total REI Rewards (REI Co-op Mastercard Rewards + Co-op Member Reward).

To redeem your Total REI Rewards:

  • Shop online at REI.com or REI Outlet. 
  • Shop at any REI Co-op store.
  • Shop with the REI Mobile app. (Download free on the App Store® and Google Play).

    You will earn 5% in REI Co-op Mastercard Rewards on net purchases (purchases minus any credits or returns) made at REI retail locations and REI.com. Purchases include full-price and discount-price items, REI gift cards, paid REI classes and events, services and fees. You will also earn 5% in REI Co-op Mastercard Rewards for donations made to the 501(c)(3) REI Cooperative Action Fund at REIfund.org or in-store at point-of-sale.

    You will earn 1.5% in REI Co-op Mastercard Rewards on all other purchases. Earnings will apply to net purchases only. Cash advances and balance transfers are not considered purchases and will not earn rewards.

    Earn a $100 REI gift card after your first non-REI purchase outside of REI within 60 days from account opening. Existing or previous REI Co-op Mastercard cardmembers will not be eligible for this one-time gift card. Once you qualify, you will be sent an e-gift card if we have a valid email address on file. Otherwise, a physical gift card will be sent to the primary account holder’s address within 6-8 weeks.

    Purchase and Transfer APR: 18.24% - 29.24% variable APR. Cash Advance APR: 29.24% variable APR. Transfer Fee: No Transfer Fee with this Transfer APR; 3% on the amount of each transferred balance that posts to your account at a Promotional APR that we may offer you. Cash Advance Fee: Either $5 or 5% of the amount of each cash advance, whichever is greater

    During this event, you will earn an additional 5% (for a total of 10%) in REI Co-op Mastercard Rewards on net purchases (purchases minus any credits or returns) made at REI retail locations or REI.com with the REI Co-op Mastercard. Any additional rewards received through this offer will be posted to your account within 45 days after the promotion ends.

    The 501(c)(3) REI Cooperative Action Fund makes grants to nonprofits creating a more equitable outdoors. REI may change the benefit or named charity in future years. For details about the REI Cooperative Action Fund, please see REIfund.org.

    Rewards are earned and available for redemption when posted to your account (generally 1-2 business days after the purchase is posted).

    10% Co-op Member Reward is typical but not guaranteed. Your Co-op Member Reward is based on eligible net qualified purchases, which exclude REI Outlet items, sale, clearance, discounted items, used gear, gift cards, paid REI classes and events, shipping charges, service fees (e.g., rentals, labor, shop services), membership fee, REI Cooperative Action Fund donations, postage, event tickets,  passes or registrations, government agencies and sales tax.

    Some activity may continue, including returns, credits, payments, interest, dispute adjustments, other account fees, purchase transactions during system downtime and certain other exempted transactions.

    Web access is needed to use the mobile app. Check with your service provider for details on specific fees and charges.

    Changing the name as it appears on your credit card will not change the legal name on your account or your responsibility for your account. We will continue to use your legal name on statements and other communications and for identity verification purposes. Update your card by calling 844-480-5934.
