What is an authorized user?
An authorized user is someone you add to your account without any additional application or credit check. They'll get a card with their name on it and share your line of credit. As the primary cardholder, you'll still be responsible for all charges and, if you have a rewards card, you'll earn on every dollar they spend.
Add a user to your account.
Running a household takes serious coordination. Now you can make life a little simpler.
See your spouse or partner's shared spending all in once place when you add them as a user. And, with our Capital One® mobile app, you'll get real-time purchase alerts, see who bought what, and can sort purchases by category. Have a rewards card? You'll also earn on every dollar they spend.
Whether your child is heading to college or still living at home, make sure they have access to funds when needed.
With the Capital One® mobile app, you can keep an eye on their spending with real-time purchase alerts. If you have a rewards card, you’ll earn on every dollar they spend. And, as long as your card is used responsibly and payments are made on time, your positive credit score can give theirs a jump start. For more tips on helping them build that foundation, our CreditWise® app can help them access and understand their credit score—whether they’re a cardholder or not.
Adding people you count on can help out in unexpected ways.
Need the nanny to pick up dinner at the last minute? Asking your trusted dog sitter to stay over while you’re out of town? Make sure they have access to funds when you’re tied up elsewhere, and use the Capital One® mobile app to keep an eye on things with real-time purchase alerts. Plus, you can instantly lock their card at any time and turn it back on whenever it's needed.
