Capital One Software strengthens partnership with Databricks

Capital One Software is strengthening its partnership with Databricks to help companies better secure and manage their data.

June 10, 2025, San Francisco, CA – Capital One Software, the enterprise B2B software business of Capital One, is strengthening its partnership with Databricks, the data and AI company, to help companies better secure, optimize and manage their data within Databricks. This deepened partnership is the result of a new integration with Capital One Databolt that enables companies to tokenize sensitive data within Databricks and new Capital One Slingshot optimization and visibility features that help companies manage their Databricks infrastructure.

Modern enterprises face the constant challenge of managing complex data ecosystems while driving innovation. With AI adoption rapidly expanding, companies are relying on large volumes of data that are of high quality and secure. AI acceleration also requires companies to implement cost control measures into their data environment to maximize their overall investment. Capital One Software has enhanced its partnership with Databricks to help businesses address these challenges.

“Capital One started its Databricks journey several years ago to power advanced analytics and machine learning capabilities. Fast forward to today, we have over 4,000 users running more than 5 million jobs, and this scale uniquely positions us to solve complex challenges for Databricks users,” said Nima Vadiee, MVP, Head of Customer Engineering and Success at Capital One Software. “This expertise, coupled with our expanded Databricks partnership, fuels our ability to build solutions that tackle some of the most challenging problems in data.”

Databolt: Protecting sensitive data directly within Databricks

Databolt now integrates with Unity Catalog, the industry’s only unified and open governance solution for data and AI, to enable end-to-end tokenization directly within Databricks, effectively securing data at its source. By integrating with Unity Catalog, Databolt customers can define tokenization policies, ingest Databricks user groups for role-based access control, initiate tokenization jobs and configure workflows. With Databolt, Databricks customers can make their lakehouse a trusted environment where sensitive data is protected without sacrificing performance or analytics.

Slingshot: Managing Databricks infrastructure with optimization, visibility and governance

Capital One Software also launched new Slingshot features to help companies maximize value from Databricks through enhanced visibility and optimization. Slingshot enables Databricks users to automate job optimization, access visualizations and receive proactive alerts—helping streamline workloads, reduce costs and improve efficiency. These features are designed for scale, offering seamless integration and optimization across Databricks environments.

In addition, the Sync Computing team has joined Capital One Software to help accelerate Slingshot's support of Databricks. Spun out of MIT, Sync is a company founded on making data and AI cloud infrastructure easier to control. Leveraging Sync's cost and performance optimization product within the Capital One ecosystem allows for an expansion of Slingshot's development roadmap to help customers better manage their Databricks environment.

As a result, Slingshot now offers intelligent, auto-pilot optimization for Databricks jobs. This ML-powered feature helps companies effortlessly optimize their workloads at scale within a single pane of glass view for cost and performance. The advanced, self-improving ML models are trained on target jobs for customized optimization, and customers can pick and choose which jobs to automate and which should require approval before optimization takes effect.

"We’re thrilled to deepen our partnership with Capital One Software and empower our customers to manage their Databricks environment more efficiently," said Junta Nakai, Vice President and Global Head of Financial Services at Databricks. “Slingshot offers advanced optimization capabilities like ML-powered automation that can enable cost savings without compromising performance. This partnership reinforces a commitment to helping our customers access innovative tools that help them build data intelligence while achieving optimal performance and cost savings in Databricks."
