RSAC Conference 2025: Capital One Databolt highlights
Our biggest findings from an impactful week in San Francisco amongst cybersecurity peers.
Over 40,000 people gathered in San Francisco to learn about the latest trends and advancements in cybersecurity at RSAC Conference 2025. This was Capital One Software’s first year exhibiting at RSAC Conference and we demonstrated how our newest product, Capital One Databolt, tokenizes data without sacrificing performance.
Inside our first RSAC: energy, momentum and a milestone moment
The RSAC Conference, the world’s leading cybersecurity event, bringing together industry experts, innovators and practitioners to explore the latest trends and technologies offered an energizing glimpse into where the security world is headed. In less than 48 hours, I met with several emerging players, heard from visionary leaders and saw firsthand the enthusiasm pulsing through the cybersecurity community. It was a vivid reminder of how fast this industry is moving—and how vital our work at Capital One Software is in helping to shape the future of data security.
Capital One Software's first official RSAC presence
Our first formal presence at RSAC this year marked a defining moment in our journey where we officially launched Databolt. What began as internal tech to protect data across our cloud ecosystem has now become a commercial product designed for enterprises navigating similar challenges. Attending RSAC gave us a platform to share ideas and helped us connect with enterprise leaders facing the same difficulties we’ve worked through internally.
Big themes we heard at RSAC 2025
Throughout the expo floor, we had fruitful conversations with industry peers and learned great insights from various sessions. Some common themes from RSAC:
-
Ecosystem alignment is key: Companies want to see how tokenization fits into overall data strategy, AI pipelines and broader data architectures.
-
Security posture management is becoming table stakes: Teams are shifting from reactive defense to proactive exposure management across data and identity.
-
Agentic AI risks are top of mind: Organizations are starting to treat AI like a privileged identity—with access controls, guardrails and monitoring.
-
Data governance is moving from static to dynamic: With shadow data proliferating, real-time scanning, tagging and automated controls are emerging as critical needs.
These trends reinforce the need for tokenization solutions that are intelligent, composable and cloud-native.
Why tokenization, why now?
Tokenization isn’t new, but it’s never been more relevant, a theme I touched on in a recent VentureBeat article.
With data flowing through cloud data environments and AI pipelines, organizations are rethinking traditional security perimeters. They’re looking for solutions that secure data in motion, not just data at rest. Tokenization is becoming a critical enabler of this shift, especially as generative AI introduces new privacy and compliance risks.
Databolt delivers tokenization that’s cloud-native, deterministic, format-preserving and designed to retain analytical value without compromising performance or developer experience.
In closing
RSAC Conference 2025 was more than a product debut. It was a milestone in our journey. A huge thank you to everyone we met and talked to during this historic week.
