What information is needed to open a checking account for students?
To open a Capital One 360 Checking account, have these things ready: your name, date of birth, mailing address, email, phone number, employment information, annual income, Tax ID Number (SSN or ITIN) and citizenship information. You’ll also need to agree to the terms and conditions. Once you’re approved, you’ll have 60 days to fund your 360 Checking account. To open a MONEY Teen Checking account, parents and teens will need to provide details like address, dates of birth, Tax ID Number (SSN or ITIN) and the teen’s phone number. Read more about the MONEY Teen Checking terms and conditions.
Capital One doesn’t require proof of enrollment or a graduation date to enjoy any of our fee-free checking accounts.
Who can open a checking account for students?
Students 18 and older can open a 360 Checking account.
Students 8 and older can open a MONEY Teen Checking account with a parent or legal guardian as a joint account holder. The teen will get their own debit card and sign-in to build financial independence, while the parent has oversight and control via their own sign-in.
What happens to a checking account for students upon graduation?
Graduation does not affect a student’s 360 Checking or MONEY Teen Checking account status. Capital One checking accounts for students stay open and fee-free.
When a teen with a MONEY Teen Checking account turns 18, they have the option to keep the account or open a 360 Checking account and transfer their MONEY Teen Checking balance.
Does Capital One have credit cards for students?
Yes. Capital One offers credit cards for students ages 18 and up to help them build credit with responsible use. Each card features a $0 annual fee and the ability to earn unlimited cash back on qualifying purchases.
