Capital One miles transfer partners: A how-to guide

With a Capital One travel rewards card, you can earn unlimited rewards on every purchase. Then you can use those miles in flexible ways, such as transferring them to select airline and hotel loyalty programs.

To transfer Capital One rewards to a travel partner, you must have at least 1,000 Capital One rewards miles. The name on your Capital One account also has to match the name on your travel loyalty program. 

Depending on the partner, rewards could convert into points or miles. Transfer rates also vary. Using the 1,000-mile minimum as an example, here’s how different conversion ratios break down:

• 1:1 ratio: 1,000 Capital One miles convert to 1,000 miles or points.

• 1:2 ratio: 1,000 Capital One miles convert to 2,000 miles or points.

• 2:1.5 ratio: 1,000 Capital One miles convert to 750 miles or points.

• 5:3 ratio: 1,000 Capital One miles convert to 600 miles or points.

• 2:1 ratio: 1,000 Capital One miles convert to 500 miles or points.

Capital One partners with multiple hotels and airlines to provide transfer options.

If you’re an eligible Capital One cardholder, you can transfer your rewards by following these steps:

1. Sign in to your account online or through the Capital One Mobile app. 

2. Navigate to the rewards section.

3. Select the option to transfer your miles and confirm your selection. Keep in mind that there’s no way to transfer miles back into your Capital One rewards account once the transfer is finalized.

Transferring your rewards isn’t the only way to redeem miles:

• Travel: Book flights, hotels, vacation rentals, rental cars and activities through Capital One Travel.

• Recent travel expenses: Get reimbursed for certain recent travel purchases or business expenses, including flights, hotels, cruises, ride-hailing services and tolls.

• Gift cards: Redeem your miles for gift cards from popular restaurants, retailers and more.

• Cash back: Receive cash back as a statement credit or a check.

Transferring your Capital One miles to a transfer partner is a flexible way to make the most of your rewards—and your next trip.

But before you can transfer rewards miles, you’ve got to have a Capital One travel rewards card or a Capital One business rewards card. Here are a few to consider:
