You can visit a Capital One branch or Café for help with account servicing and support from our Ambassadors. Here are some resources to help you better prepare for your in-person visit.
Branches versus Cafés: what you need to know:
Capital One bank branch:
Capital One offers banking services through full-service bank branches, with locations varying by state. Here you’ll find a more traditional banking experience featuring helpful ambassadors, a teller window, ATMs, and more. Branch Ambassadors are available to answer your questions and support with all your account needs.
Capital One Café:
A Capital One Café is part bank, part café–all in one space where everyone is welcome. Most Cafes are open 7 days a week with extended and weekend hours for everyday banking and in-person support. Our Ambassadors can answer questions about your account and help you explore products that enable your lifestyle and look out for you (and your money). While you’re here, you can enjoy your favorite handcrafted beverage, an all-day food menu and comfortable spaces with free Wi-Fi for working or taking a break. You can even work toward money goals with free-for-everyone financial literacy events and workshops.

1. In person ID verification for account opening
If you encounter an error when you apply to open a new Capital One bank account online and are asked to visit a branch or Café for further verification, please note you will need to bring the following documents with you in order to complete the in-person verification:
- A U.S. state-issued driver's license or learner's permit (including Guam, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands), a state-issued non-driver ID, or a U.S. or non-U.S. Passport. (Other forms of acceptable government-issued IDs can be found in the full article linked below.)
- We also require a Social Security Card or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN).
(Both documents are required for in person ID verification.)
2. Capital One ATM withdrawals and deposits
We feature Capital One ATMs at both our branches and Cafés. Additionally, as a Capital One checking customer, you can withdraw cash from 70,000+ fee-free Capital One, MoneyPass® and Allpoint® ATMs—including in select Target®, Walgreens® and CVS® stores. For ATM deposits, there are currently no hold times on cash deposits. Funds for check deposits will be available according to the applicable hold times. 4. Change the name on your bank account
When you need to update the name on your Capital One bank account or credit card, you have a few options. We first recommend contacting our customer service department for support. It’s important to note that in order to complete a name change on your account, there are specific documents you will be required to send in or bring with you. Depending on whether you call, visit a branch, or visit a Café, the name change process will vary. For example, a Branch Ambassador can go directly into your profile to make an adjustment, while a Café Ambassador will call customer service on your behalf.

5. Bank account restrictions & servicing support
If your Capital One bank account or credit card is currently restricted and you need support, we first recommend contacting our customer service department for support as they are the main point of contact for resolving these issues. It’s important to note when visiting a Capital One Bank Branch or Café for support with your account restriction, our associates will need to get in contact with the customer service team to have them look into the details of your account restriction.
