Will my credit card have an annual fee?
Keep using your credit card with no annual fee.
Will my credit card's APR remain the same?
You received Account Terms in the mail alongside other important information from Capital One that outlines your APR—that's the best place to look because APR varies from cardmember to cardmember.
Will this change impact my credit score?
This change won't be reported as a new account, and your account open date will appear as the same date currently reported on your credit file. The credit bureaus will continue to receive updates based on your ongoing account performance.
Will my credit limit remain the same?
Your credit line will not be impacted. However, Capital One reserves the right to increase or decrease your credit line at any time.
Will authorized users receive a new credit card?
When it's time to start managing a card account with Capital One, we'll mail authorized users on that account a new credit card. We'll send the card to the primary cardmember's address. Until then, authorized users can keep using their current card.
Will authorized users have access to online account management?
Authorized users can set up online account access with Capital One at capitalone.com. They will be able to view their own transactions, update their personal info and make one-time payments.
To create a Capital One online account and enjoy the associated benefits, you must be 18+ and have a valid Social Security number on file. The primary cardmember can submit an SSN on their behalf through Capital One's website or app, if they don't already have one on file.
Will authorized users be able to make credit card payments?
Authorized users can make one-time payments on capitalone.com, the Capital One app or by phone.
To set up your online account access with Capital One and enjoy the associated benefits, authorized users must be 18+ and have a valid Social Security number on file. The primary cardmember can submit an SSN on your behalf through Capital One's website or app, if you don't already have one on file.
Why will authorized users receive a new credit card, with a unique card number?
Authorized users will receive a new credit card with a unique 16-digit card number and CVV. This will help limit compromised data in the event of fraud or other security issues and allow for online access.
Will my credit card continue to work with digital wallets?
You can continue using digital wallets through Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay and PayPal.
If you receive a new card for any reason, you'll need to update your card info in your digital wallet. You won't be able to manage or review your cards from wallets within the Capital One website and app—if you need to remove your card from a wallet, you can do so from the digital wallet app.
At this time, using Apple Pay with your credit card rewards and viewing additional transaction info in your Apple wallet are not available. If you already added your card to Garmin Pay or Click to Pay, you can keep using it, but you can't enroll new cards in Garmin Pay or Click to Pay through Capital One.
If you previously made a recurring subscription with Apple Pay, you'll likely need to re-establish the subscription.
Which digital wallets can I add my credit card to?
You can add your card to Google Pay, Apple Pay, PayPal, and Samsung Pay. Discover cards are not yet available to add to the Paze digital wallet, but that is coming soon.
If you already added your card to Garmin Pay or Click to Pay, you can keep using it, but you can't enroll new cards in Garmin Pay or Click to Pay through Capital One.
If you already added your card to Amazon through the Discover website and app, you can continue using it, but if you want to add your card to Amazon.com, you need to do it at Amazon, not at Capital One. You won't be able to use Amazon's Palm Pay capability.
Can I generate a virtual card number for my credit card?
After we set up your account with Capital One, eligible cardmembers who verify their identity can create virtual cards using the Capital One website and app. Please note that in some cases, you may not have access to your full credit line until your physical card is activated. Virtual card numbers are not available for debit cards and some credit cards.
Cardmembers who have enabled virtual card numbers with Google Pay prior to when we set up your account with Capital One will be able to access Google Pay virtual card numbers after they verify their identity with the Capital One website and app. During this process, you may temporarily lose access to your autofill virtual card numbers.
Are my credit card digital wallet terms and conditions changing?
As a digital wallet user, you accepted terms and conditions from Discover to add your card to Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay or Garmin Pay. When your account moves to Capital One, your terms will change. You can find the Capital One digital wallet terms and conditions here: Capital One Mobile Payments Terms & Conditions as well as Capital One Google Pay User Terms.
If you want to stop using your digital wallet, you can opt out by deleting your card from the digital wallet.
Will I be able to use my current credit card?
Most cardmembers can keep using their existing cards without disruption.
Authorized users, secondary users, cardmembers with expiring credit cards, and Discover it Business cardmembers can expect to receive new cards from Capital One. We'll let these cardmembers know when their old cards will stop working.
Will I be sent a new credit card?
It's likely you won't get a new card and can keep using your card. We'll send you emails or letters with info on how to get started if you're receiving a new card for any reason—authorized users, secondary users, cardmembers with expiring credit cards, and Discover it Business cardmembers can expect to receive new cards from Capital One.
Will I be able to keep my existing credit card design?
Most cardmembers can continue to use their current card, with their existing card design.
Cardmembers who are reissued new cards may receive a new card design based on availability. Authorized users will receive the same card designs as the primary cardmember.
We're working on a feature to allow primaries to update their card design in the Capital One app–stay tuned!
How can I activate my new credit card?
If you receive a new credit card after your account has moved to Capital One, you can activate it using the Capital One app, by visiting discover.capitalone.com, or by calling 877-250-2392.
Business cardmembers who have been reissued a Spark 1.5% Cash Select can activate their cards starting January 26th at capitalone.com/activate or by calling 800-678-7820.
Will my credit card one-time scheduled payment transfer?
We'll move your account to Capital One, including your scheduled payments. If we're not able to transfer your scheduled payments to Capital One, we'll let you know by email or letter.
Will my credit card automatic payment settings transfer?
We'll move your account to Capital One, including your automatic payments. If we're not able to transfer your automatic payments to Capital One, we'll let you know by email or letter.
Will my credit card minimum payment remain the same?
You received Account Terms in the mail alongside other important information from Capital One that outlines how your minimum payment will be calculated—that's the best place to look because minimum payment info varies from cardmember to cardmember.
Will my credit card payment due dates remain the same?
Your credit card due date will likely stay the same. For some customers, we will change your due date cycle to avoid technical issues. If your due date changes, we'll notify you by letter or email, and you'll also see it in your first monthly statement.
Is my Discover credit card still eligible for the 5% cash back rewards program?
With Capital One, you can continue to enjoy the 5% cash back rewards program with your Discover it Cash Back card or Discover More card. You'll still need to activate each quarter to continue earning 5% cash back on the eligible categories for purchases up to $1,500. Complete activation using the Capital One website and app.
Will my credit card rewards balance remain the same?
Your rewards balance will stay the same. Your rewards won't expire for the life of your card account.
Will my credit card's earn rate remain the same?
Your credit card earn rate will remain the same.
Will I still need to activate to earn 5% cash back?
For Discover it Cash Back and Discover More cardmembers, if you already activated your 5% cash back for the quarter, this will move with your account to Capital One and stay active for the quarter. If you haven't activated your 5% cash back, you can activate at Capital One after your account moves.
Remember that you have to activate each quarter to keep earning 5% cash back on the eligible categories for purchases up to $1,500.
Will I lose access to my accounts on Discover.com or in the Discover app?
When your account is ready with Capital One, you’ll no longer be able to view or manage that account on Discover.com or in the Discover app. You'll use the Capital One website and app to sign in and manage your account.
If you have multiple Discover accounts, they may be ready to manage with Capital One at different times. You can continue using Discover.com or the Discover app for any accounts that are still with Discover, until all of your accounts are ready to be managed with Capital One.
How can I set up my online account access with Capital One?
When it's time to set up online access with Capital One, we'll send you an email or letter with info on when and how to get started.
If you have an existing online Discover account:
1. Start with Discover: Use your Discover User ID and password to log in at Discover.com or on the Discover app.
2. Continue with Capital One: Follow the prompts to set up online account access with Capital One.
If you do not have an existing online Discover account:
1. Set up a new online account by following the prompts at discover.capitalone.com.
If you have a new Spark 1.5% Cash Select card:

What happens if I can't remember my Discover sign-in credentials?
You'll be guided through how to get started so you can sign in with Capital One. Start by resetting your password on Discover's website and app. Then follow the prompts. You can also do so on the Capital One website and app.

How do I manage my credit card online?
Before your account is ready with Capital One, you can continue to manage your Discover card using Discover.com or the Discover app.
We'll notify you when it's time to get started with Capital One. At that time, you'll be able to enroll online and begin managing your account using the Capital One website and app.
Will there be limited functionality on the Discover site and app in the days leading up to the move?
Prior to your account being ready at Capital One, some features won't be available on the Discover website and app. This is to ensure we move over your account information accurately. This includes making changes to account details and activating and redeeming rewards. This will be temporary and you'll be able to access most of these features on the Capital One website and app after your account has moved.
Online servicing with Discover will temporarily be unavailable to Discover it Business cardmembers January 22-25.
Will my Discover credit card change to a Capital One credit card?
The Discover brand and network are not going away, but the way you'll manage your credit card account will change. Once we set up your credit card account with Capital One, you'll need to manage it using the Capital One website and app.
