• Within two business days after linking your account your account online, Capital One will make two temporary deposits (each less than $1.00) into your external account, followed by one withdrawal for the total amount of the two deposits.
  • Review the activity on your external checking account, and identify the small test deposits.
  • Once you know the amounts, sign in online at capitalone.com or through the Capital One Mobile app to finish the process.


For Capital One 360 accounts -

Through Web:

  1. Sign in to your Capital One account, click on your profile in the top-right corner and choose “Account & Feature Settings” from the drop-down menu.
  2. Scroll down to the “External Accounts” section, and select the “Verify account to finish setting up transfers” link.
  3. On the pop-up screen, enter the 2 deposit amounts in any order and choose “Verify”.


Through the Capital One Mobile App:

Sign in and select the Capital One account that you’re linking to your external bank account.

  1. Tap the Transfer icon in the I Want To… menu.
  2. Select the box where you see Complete Account Verification.
  3. On the next pop-up screen, enter the 2 deposit amounts in any order and tap “Verify”.


For all other accounts -

Through Web:

1. Select the “Account Services and Settings” link under your account’s balance

  1. Click “Manage External Accounts”
  2. On the next page, select the “Verify account to finish setting up transfers” link.
  3. On the pop-up screen, enter the 2 deposit amounts in any order and choose “Verify”.

Mobile verification is not currently available for these accounts.

Please Note: If this is a joint Capital One account, each owner needs to link the external account separately if they want to use it to transfer money.

After verifying your external account, you’ll be able to transfer money between accounts. Once verified, any money you scheduled to be deposited to a recently opened Capital One account will be transferred.
