SCRA benefits


The Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA) provides financial relief and protections to eligible military personnel serving on active duty. Capital One is committed to both the letter and spirit of the SCRA, including the provision of benefits and protections above and beyond what is required under the SCRA in certain situations.

Under Capital One's SCRA Program, benefits for eligible products include:

  • A maximum interest rate of 4% on accounts owned and serviced by Capital One1
  • No fees assessed on accounts, except bona-fide insurance

SCRA program eligibility


Eligible Servicemembers include:

  • Active duty members of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps or Coast Guard
  • Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corp or Coast Guard reservists serving on active duty
  • National Guard members in qualifying active service
  • Commissioned officers of the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration and Public Health Service on active service

If you are serving on active duty, you may be eligible for SCRA benefits and protections. Eligible products include, but are not limited to:

  • Credit cards and lines of credit
  • Installment and auto loans
  • Mortgage and home equity loans
  • Other loans and lines of credit

Accounts are eligible as long as they were opened before the start of the active duty period.

Request SCRA benefits


Capital One must receive your request for SCRA benefits within one year following the end of your active duty period.

Servicemember Online Form

Completing the Online Request Form is the fastest and most convenient way to request SCRA benefits.

This channel is available to Servicemembers only. If you are not a Servicemember, but would like to request benefits, please use one of our other available channels to submit your request.

Mail or Fax

If you’d prefer sending a paper request, you can fax your SCRA Benefits Request Form to 1-866-516-4023, or mail your request to the address listed below. Please be sure to include military orders or a letter from your commanding office on military letterhead that shows your active duty period(s).

Visit a Branch

Requests can also be submitted at any Capital One Bank branch. The branch will forward your request for processing.

Processing your request


  • Within 2 billing cycles, you will receive a response from Capital One regarding the status of your request.
  • In addition to reviewing any military orders provided, Capital One will check the Defense Manpower Data Center (DMDC) website to determine eligibility. If we are unable to verify eligibility we will send you a written request to obtain a copy of acceptable military documents.

SCRA eligible loans owned and serviced by Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, or other private investors, or loans owned by Capital One but serviced by a third party, will receive a maximum interest rate of 6%
