Follow these steps to verify your external account after linking it online.

If you did not receive confirmation of instant verification after providing your external account information, we may send two small test deposits, less than $1, to your external link to verify it.

  • These test deposits will arrive in your external account either immediately or up to 3 business days after linking.

  • Sign in to your external account to review the amounts for the test deposits, jot it down, then sign in to capitalone.com or the Capital One Mobile app to verify the amounts to confirm the link and complete the process. 

Mobile App Steps:

  1. Sign in.

  2. Tap on the profile menu in the lower right hand corner of the screen.

  3. Select Account & Feature Settings.

  4. Select Manage My External Accounts.

  5. Select the external account that you would like to confirm.

  • Please note: Any unconfirmed account will have “verify this account to enable transfers” listed below the account details.

6. Enter the two amounts that we deposited into your external account (the order in which you enter the amounts doesn’t matter).

7. Tap Verify.

  • You’ll see a message letting you know you can now transfer money to or from the link.

  • If you entered the incorrect amounts, you will be prompted to try again.

  • You are limited to three tries. Please ensure you have the correct deposit amounts. 

Note: We’ll withdraw the sum of the temporary deposits from your external account in a one-time ACH debit, usually on the same day.
