WATCH: How military spouses are supported at Capital One

Capital One is a place where the military community thrives

U.S. Veterans Magazine announced Capital One as a Top Military Spouse Employer in 2026. To honor Military Spouse Appreciation Day on Friday, May 8, 2026, Carl Ciovacco, Vice President of Commercial Business Operations, spoke with U.S. Veterans Magazine about his experience as both a veteran and military spouse.

Ciovacco’s connection to the military runs deep. A graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, he served deployments to Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Poland. When he transitioned out of uniform, his wife remained on active duty, giving him firsthand experience as a military spouse. This ultimately led Ciovacco to pursue a career at Capital One, whose culture was a differentiator and warmly welcomed service members and military spouses.

“Capital One is a place where the military community thrives,” he said.

With approximately 800 military spouses employed at Capital One, Ciovacco said mentorship programs are important to the company,  “We have a mentorship program which bridges that relationship between people that have been here a while—veterans and military spouses—and those that are relatively new,” Ciovacco said. “This group kind of shows the ropes to someone, like a new military spouse at Capital One.”
