Loved using the auto navigator to obtain pre-approval for a car loan. It was great to be able to go to the dealership with that paperwork in hand; put me in the driver's seat when dealing with the salesman and the financing department. I am NOT a fan, however, of the auto loan forcing me to add them to my on-line accounts when I logged in to Capital One after purchasing the car before I could access my bank accounts. I didn't even click through the auto email sent to me; I was just logging into my bank accounts to check balances, etc. That type of overt control and nose up my a**, is really irritating. Too much "big brother is watching." A person should never be forced to add an account before they can even access the accounts they already have at the bank. That alone gives me pause on recommending Capital One to anyone.

I was very delighted when I discovered that Capital One had auto financing. You can prequalify without affecting your credit score, which is why I was more motivated to apply. I also already had a credit card with Capital One and was happy with the service they provide. Once I got my prequalification, I used the auto navigator to look for vehicles. It is extensive in the way you can add info to really see what the overall price of the vehicle will be and the monthly payment. It had great interest rates and was extremely satisfied with Capital One Auto Finance. The best decision I could have made.
Easiest Car Financing

Capital One's Auto Navigator was a great choice for me when I needed to finance a car for the first time. The app was easy to use, and upon approval the loan was easy to link to my account. I appreciated the flexibility in the input variables, and it was nice to watch how the approval and costs fluctuated based on various down payments, loan terms, etc. The dealership I used was not transparent about financing, and Capital One gave me the confidence to go in and negotiate, eventually leading to use using the Capital One auto loan I was pre-approved for. My rate was 1.9 points lower than the APR the dealership quoted me. The dealership had no problem processing my loan, and I even had the down payment split between my Capital One Credit Card and Checking account.
Simplified auto shopping and a fair rate

I found Auto Navigator quite useful in shopping for a used car. It simplifies the process greatly when you can enter the dealership with a pre-approval in hand knowing what the taxes, fees, term and payments will be. In my case, the only near snafu came when the dealership under-valued my trade-in. I had to do some hard negotiating on that issue(resolved by negotiating down the price paid for the new vehicle). Otherwise, all went smoothly and Capital One came through with a fair and very competitive rate. My only criticism would be that Capital One does not yet have enough participating dealers in my area. That can limit the scope of your search somewhat. Also, the online program can be a bit buggy at times.

When my car buying experience began I was pre-approved for an auto loan. Initially I was confused as to how I was approved for. I contacted a customer service representative and she was very helpful and knowledgeable as to the functionality of the process and was genuine. She did not display a fictitiously exuberant personality but moreso a genuine sound sense of human practicality. After finding the vehicle I wanted, the dealership experience was smooth and delightful. When my financing came back, the interest rate was very, very low in comparison to others. Overall I would definitely recommend to anyone who are about to purchase a vehicle to use Capital One Auto Financing.
Still alot of bugs in the whole process.

The good:
-Able to locate vehicles in price range with in distance range of 50-500 miles.
-Gives you apr's on specific vehicles.
-Narrow search by saving vehicles you like.
-Site gives you exactly how much money you need to put down for specific apr's. You can play with the numbers to get different apr's.
-Customer service was responsive over the phone.
The bad:
-The site is really slow, I'm guessing they need a substantial upgrade in
bandwidth.
The dealer:
-Arrived at dealer, the dealer had removed the car from the navigator.
-Out the door price went from $10,900 to $12,900
-Apr went from 7.75 to 9.59
-The navigator included $1100 in the price for taxes and tag, the dealer charged me again for those charges again. Seems like I got double charged?
Overall:
Has great potential if you can develop site and have accurate numbers on vehicles.

I recently used the Auto Navigator program to get pre-qualified to purchase a car. When my car first died, my paranoia was heightened, as I was unsure what I was going to do as far as affording a new one. I had received an email from Capital One introducing me to the world of Auto Navigator, so I gave it a shot. Not only did I get pre-approved in seconds, it made me feel a lot more at ease about financing a car as an option, since it gives you many different scenarios to break down the financing terms. Once I found the car I wanted, I printed out the pre-approval and brought it to the dealership. They made it happen and I drove off the lot with my new car that night. I highly recommend this to anybody looking to purchase a new car with ease!

Dealerships will not be happy you're this informed. I was pre approved but didn't really use the navigator at first. I just assumed that my current Capital One rate of 3.9% was probably going to stay. I went to the dealer and found a Honda Pilot. I told them my current rate and said I wanted payments to be at $250. He called to tell me that Capital One wasn't going to extend to 72months. I went into the navigator and typed in the VIN and the vehicle pulled right up with a rate of 2.5% which meant I could do 60 months and still have close the payment I wanted. But the dealer tried keeping that secret. So I went elsewhere. This time I found the vehicle first, new my interest rate and the dealership wasn't thrilled because they get their kickbacks from the finance companies. This was seriously an amazing tool that set me up for a great deal. I rarely leave reviews, let alone a review for a bank but this is so powerful for any consumer. Do yourself a favor and use the Navigator prior to going to the dealership.
A must-have car shopping tool

You guys really knocked it out of the park with this tool. It gave me so much leverage and buying power to know my numbers before I stepped into the dealership. I knew exactly what vehicle I wanted, exactly what price I needed to be at, and exactly what down payment(if any) would be necessary to get the rate and payment that I wanted.
The salesman was astonished as he had never seen a tool like this for consumers and he had nothing to come back at me with. I essentially worked out my own deal before stepping foot in the showroom!
Easy peasy! Again, you all rock on this feature for sure.
