The first Range Rover Sport arrived in 2006, giving Land Rover buyers an alternative to the large and expensive Range Rover and the boxy but relatively affordable LR3. Though the SUV’s name suggests added performance compared to the standard Range Rover, that isn’t necessarily the case. Like other Land Rovers, the Range Rover Sport excels off-road and, when properly equipped, can deliver blistering performance on pavement. A more refined second-generation version arrived for the 2014 model year, continuing to offer available third-row seating and turbocharged and supercharged engines.
