Around the turn of the last century, the United States had a thing for retro-inspired vehicles. The Chevrolet HHR (Heritage High Roof) was one of them.Based on the same front-wheel-drive platform as the Chevrolet Cobalt, the Chevy HHR arrived for the 2006 model year. Eventually, the lineup grew to include a panel van model for businesses and a turbocharged HHR SS with added performance. By the end of the 2011 model year, the HHR had run its course. Chevy was retiring the HHR's platform, and the retro design wasn't appealing enough to drive the sales necessary to justify the model’s continued existence. As a result, the Chevy HHR did not return in 2012.
