Volvo gave the 2023 XC40 a new mild hybrid powertrain and upgraded infotainment technology. The compact luxury SUV comes in Core, Plus, and Ultimate trims, and a turbocharged four-cylinder engine making 194 horsepower is standard. Volvo offers an optional 247-hp powertrain, and an all-electric variant of this SUV, called the XC40 Recharge, is also available, but we discuss it separately.
