A literal example of a minivan introduced for the 2006 model year, the Mazda5 is a small passenger van based on the Mazda3 platform. It offers three-row seating for up to six people and a reasonable amount of cargo space. Mazda redesigned the Mazda5 for the 2012 model year, but kept the vehicle's four-cylinder engine; buyers could choose between a manual and an automatic transmission. However, the Mazda5 received poor crash-test ratings and was discontinued in 2015.
