Rivian is an electric vehicle manufacturer based in California. The Rivian R1T is the company's first model, an electric truck larger than traditional midsize pickups but smaller than full-size light-duty trucks. Rivian shipped customers the first production R1T models in the fall of 2021. The Rivian R1T comes only as a crew-cab, shortbed pickup, a popular configuration with personal-use truck buyers. It has a standard four-motor drive system, with one at each wheel, and the R1T can travel an EPA-estimated 314 miles on a full battery. Output measures 835 horsepower and 908 lb-ft of torque, and the Rivian R1T can tow up to 11,000 pounds. The 4.5-foot cargo bed is rather short, but there is a front trunk and a "gear tunnel" behind the cab and in front of the bed, which helps improve utility.
