Toyota gave all V6-powered 2016 Highlander models a standard towing package. The Highlander midsize three-row SUV comes in LE, LE Plus, XLE, Limited, and Limited Platinum trims. The standard engine is a four-cylinder making 185 horsepower, but a 3.5-liter 270-hp V6 engine providing 248 lb-ft of torque is available, as is all-wheel drive. The Highlander's EPA-estimated gas mileage ranges from 20 mpg in combined city and highway driving to 22 mpg. Toyota offers a Highlander Hybrid, but it is discussed separately. The 2016 Toyota Highlander tows up to 5,000 pounds, seats up to eight people, and offers 83.7 cubic-feet of maximum cargo room.
