CarMax Tinley Park

“I ended up at Carmax because my two Neighbors and my brother purchased cars from. They were very satisfied so I decided to go to CarMax and my experience was not so satisfying. I purchased a 2016 Nissan Altima and it stopped on the 4th day on the expressway I was do scared. Got the car towed to CarMax the car was having a sensor issue which they fixed. Got the car back and after 2 days it's stalled out again. Got the car towed again and they change the battery and terminals etc. Now the car seems to be driving really good. I hope that I don't have any more issues with the car soon. I am really torn with the rate of this review. Carmax was accommodating and was really trying to figure out the issues with the car. The car is still under warranty so fingers crossed. It actually is a decent car so hopefully I don't have any real issues for a while. I know the car is already 10 years old and I'm trying to keep the car for another three before I purchase a brand new car. My forever car 2007 Toyota avalon in very good condition with less miles than the 2016 got totaled in an accident, not my fault. Devastated. Revised from 2/24. It's now past the 10days but before 30 car stopped again on 3/9. No warning at around 10pm. I am really disappointed. Can't be out in these streets late with no reliable transportation very dangerous.”

“My friend was in need of a new vehicle. She lives near this location and asked me if I would meet her there to be a help. I was glad to as myself, sister and late Mother have all bought cars from CarMax (Oak Lawn location). We walk in and we were greeted in a friendly manner and were given Tyler to assist us. He was friendly, knowledgeable and answered whatever questions we had. My friend thought she was going to get either a Honda or a Nissan based off of preference. With inquiring and getting Tyler's advice, she started looking at Subaru's! Another friend of mine recently got a Subaru who is pleased with hers along with one of the other associates there telling us how happy he has been with his Subaru purchase. This purchase took a matter of days because she had a car transported from another location so had to wait for that one to come in. She was also trading in a vehicle along with going through her credit union. The whole time Tyler was great and we were really glad to work with him. My friend is very happy with her vehicle and the experience she had. Great job CarMax of Tinley Park. Keep up the great work! A+!”

“Had a good experience with my Carmax location. bought a car from Naperville location had it shipped to Tinley Park location once the car got there. They did an inspection and found it had an exhaust leak. They fixed it for free. They called me and told me my car is ready for pick up. told them i was on my way. This is my first time even driving the vehicle. And this is how they gave me my car covered in snow while the other customer cars is inside looking pretty and shiny. It didn’t even feel like I was getting a new car to me.. an update they fixed everything wrong with my car. I told them my headlights was messed up. Long story short, they called me and told me only one of them will be getting replaced and I told them I have projectors on my car. It’s going to shine brighter than the. Old one she really didn’t care I go to pick my car and what do you know the new headlight is brighter I’m never going to that CarMax location again!!!!!!!”

“On December 13, 2025, I put down a substantial down payment for a CERTIFIED pre-owned 2023 Nissan Altima. It is now December 31, 2025, and my check engine light is on. Carmax informed me I need a new transmission. NEVER PURCHASE A CAR HERE!!! SPEND YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY AT A DEALERSHIP. THEY ARE SELLING JUNK. BUY AT YOUR OWN RISK.”
