“After an absolutely terrible experience at the Hertz Smithtown, NY location, I was fortunate to end up at the Springfield, VA branch, where Jeremy, the manager, handled the situation with professionalism and care. To put it in context: Hertz Smithtown gave me a Rent2Buy car that had a dangerous tire defect — a bulging sidewall that made it unsafe to drive. Despite this, I was told to drive it to a third-party tire shop (Pep Boys), which didn’t have the tire. I was then sent to three more locations chasing a fix. Smithtown’s location was closing and offered no real support, only more shops to try. It was a total failure in safety, accountability, and customer service. Without my request, Hertz transferred the vehicle sale to Springfield, VA, and I was suprised to find the processing fee jumped from $175 (Smithtown) to $699 (Springfield). I was expected to pay the higher fee for a transfer I didn’t initiate — on top of the time, money, and risk I’d already dealt with. Jeremy at Springfield took the time to hear the full story, worked behind the scenes with Hertz, and made sure I was not penalized for something that wasn’t my fault. He got the higher fee waived and treated me with the respect and transparency that had been completely missing at the Hertz smithtown location. While my overall Rent2Buy experience was awful, the Springfield location — and Jeremy specifically — was a bright spot. He helped restore a bit of trust when I had every reason to walk away. If you’re buying from Hertz, avoid Hertz Smithtown location and start with Springfield.”

“A good experience. No hassle whatsoever. Lots of low mileage cars to close from. Update: it's been 5 weeks and the state of Maryland has no record of anyone trying to file my tags. I can't get in touch with anyone to help me. Update #2 The Springfield location reached out to me and resolved the issue.”
