“To Whom It May Concern:
I am writing this letter to express my extreme disappointment with Toyota’s handling of a serious product quality issue, as well as my strong dissatisfaction with the complete lack of after-sales service.
Description of the Issue
• On September 19, 2025, I discovered that the front windshield of my Toyota RAV4 had developed a crack under normal usage conditions.
• This crack was not caused by any external impact or human error, but appeared suddenly during ordinary driving.
• A cracked windshield is not merely a cosmetic problem; it raises serious safety concerns, including reduced structural integrity of the vehicle, impaired airbag performance, and obstructed driver visibility.
• Upon discovering the defect, I immediately contacted Toyota customer service and authorized dealers, seeking inspection, replacement, or at least an explanation.
• Unfortunately, my requests were met only with evasions, refusals, delays, and ultimately no meaningful response.
Legal and Precedent References
Toyota should be well aware that there have already been class actions and investigations regarding defective windshields. For example:
• Sauder Schelkopf LLP is currently investigating class action claims that windshields in Toyota Venza, Camry, and RAV4 vehicles crack under normal usage conditions without external impact.
• In Davis et al. v. Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc., plaintiffs alleged that the 2021 Venza was equipped with defective windshields, and that Toyota refused warranty coverage, forcing owners to bear substantial repair costs.
• Prius models have also been the subject of lawsuits for so-called “self-destructing windshields,” with claims that the glass could spontaneously crack during normal driving.
These cases demonstrate that courts and consumer protection agencies take “spontaneous windshield cracking” very seriously, particularly when manufacturers refuse to honor warranty obligations or conceal known defects.
Appallingly Poor After-Sales Service
What makes this matter even more unacceptable is Toyota’s complete failure of after-sales service:
• Visits to authorized dealers have yielded no substantive response;
• Promised callbacks or “escalations” have been repeatedly delayed or abandoned altogether;
• Customer service personnel have refused to take responsibility and have offered no viable solutions;
• No complaint reference number, tracking mechanism, or transparent process has been provided;
• Even the most basic customer care — such as timely responses, status updates, or interim measures — has been absent.
This level of neglect and indifference is utterly incompatible with the standards expected of a global automobile manufacturer.”
