Michigan City Hyundai

“The search continues with a 300-mile road trip to test drive a car at Michigan City Hyundai of Indiana. Yes, I agree it may seem ridiculous to drive so far to test drive a car.  This will be my last significant car purchase, and I want the car I want. Upon arriving at the dealership I was met by salesperson Michael. He was polite and not pushy (great job). He located the car which was being driven by an employee of the store. He gave me the keys and told me to take the car. I conducted a per-drive inspection and took the car on the road. The vehicle drove as expected with no issues.  The exterior color of the car was not my first choice, which is white. The paint was a little dull which I could fix. The interior color was my color of choice, beige.  I decided I wanted the car. I requested an out-of-door price and Michael promptly provided it.  Upon reviewing the sheet I was a little surprised about the dealer add-ons. Their finial prices was higher than the listed internet price. I made an offer and Michael took the offer to his sales manager. The salesman and sales manager returned.  After some cordial negotiation, A price was agreed upon. However, that's when the deal fell through. I requested to take possession of the vehicle and pay the taxes upon my return to my home state. The sales manager stood fast on me paying the sales taxes there.  He informed me they had a reciprocity agreement with Illinois. IMO if a reciprocity agreement is not backed by state law, I believe there should be some flexibility. I was previously informed at another out if state dealer I could pay the taxes separately. Now, the search contionues for my retirement gift to myself.”

“If you’re looking for top notch excellence in customer service, Joe in the service department will take great care of you. Actually everyone in the service department provided excellent service. They were put in a difficult position, not at all their fault (recall part was on backorder)and all throughout the wait(I was very impatient) Joe kept me informed of status and made sure to get the repair done quickly once the part arrived! Joe was professional, kind, courteous and it’s as if they rolled out the red carpet when we arrived to pick up vehicle and had everything taken care of and my car looked like brand new to take home. “Great overall experience. The only negative thing is the pressure put on you at closing to choose 1 of 4 varying levels of added protection--which I have no need of. Everyone I dealt with at the dealership was extremely helpful from the sales lady (Renae), Dealership manager, District manager, financial manager and the office girl. They were all terrific!”
