Terrible experience at Merit Chevrolet. My brand new vehicle with only 3,700 miles has/had a check engine light and other issues (emergency brake engaging, drivers seat heater works intermittently, etc.). When I scheduled the appointment, I said that I wanted to wait for the car. After back and forth, I was told I couldn’t, as the appointment was a half day and would be done same day. I was told that I’d be given a loaner car or dropped off and picked up, again, same day. I showed up on time for my Friday appointment and was told they couldn’t look at it until Monday, then said repairs would take a few more days after that. I was informed that no loaner car was available. I then informed them that this is not what I was told and that I needed a vehicle for work. The person who helped me didn’t explain anything or apologize for being provided with incorrect information. They got an attitude when I began asking questions and kept stating that there were no other options for a loaner vehicle. When I said I couldn’t go without a car for a week, the same employee told me “you better watch your mouth and what you say around here.” Then, proceeded to call me a liar, because they “didn’t say a week,” they said 5-6 days at a minimum. The Service Manager later offered a rental, but only if I put my own credit card down for damages, which is not what was promised. This was after he condescendingly said, “car repairs are stressful for everyone.” A car with 3,700 miles shouldn’t be a piece of junk, or malfunctioning, and customers shouldn’t be lied to or threatened. I then spoke to the Sales Manager, explained everything and why I was frustrated. He apologized, and when I said I was upset, he replied along the lines of that I should be, and got involved. After speaking with the Sales Manager, the Service Manager came back to explain things to me, not being condescending at all this time, and apologized. The Service Manager did none of this back in the Service area, and only changed his demeanor and attitude when the Sales Manager got involved. Like a complete demeanor change in front of the Sales Manager. I will not be back and do not recommend this dealership. Mauer Chevrolet will be looking at the vehicle within the next 10 days (they could have same day or earlier but my schedule prevents), will have services scheduled that cannot be done same day, and will provide a loaner vehicle at no cost.

Merit Chevrolet is the worst. They do not operate with honesty or integrity and they tried to con me into paying $2,200 for repairs that were NOT necessary for my vehicle. I brought my Chevy Equinox 2020 in due to a check engine light coming on after the freezing temperatures as I had purchased my extended warranty through them when buying out my lease. They had no issues ripping me off for the $200 diagnostic fee after going in with a common code P0299 that this make and model see in cold weather. I told Scott, my "service advisor" all about the code and error message my vehicle displayed. He said they'd need to take it in and run diagnostics. I brought my car in at 7am and got a call around 2:46pm. I was told about "all this work" that needed to be done and that my warranty would not cover it and it would cost $2,200 to fix everything. I was shocked but something didn't sit right. I told them no, I'd go some where else. I called the warranty provider Zurich to ask some questions. They found NO RECORD of a claim being filed OR record that anyone besides me called to discuss my coverage so fun fact, the dealership LIED about calling but were obviously familiar enough with my issue to know it wasn't covered. They still had to audacity to charge me the $200 diagnostic fee! AGAIN which was presented to Scott from the beginning. To make the matter worse, I called a local family owned garage to explain my issue. Over the phone the shop owner asked me about the code and error... he then said this is a known issue with my make and model vehicle and as long as that is the issue the fix would be a $9 part and about an hour tops for labor. He also provided a GM alert that was sent to his shop THREE YEARS ago about this issue and printed it for me. I am not a mechanic but I'd expect a GM dealership to know more about their vehicles quirks/issues over a local family owned shop. I have attempted to contact Merit Chevrolet on this issue with zero response! I want my money back for the unnecessary diagnostics. Be aware of this place and their tactics unless you want to be conned into paying $2200 for a $150 fix or to pay for a diagnostic fee that is unnecessary!

We bought our Dodge Ram Nov 2023. We had to replace the transmission shortly after- contacted Merit Chev, nothing. (obviously a pre purchase problem) Now, 1/2026, we're being told it needs to be replaced again.. do not recommend buying a vehicle from Merit Chev

I purchased the vehicle from Merit, but live in Wisconsin. I did not have a good experience with my local dealership, so I scheduled an appointment with Merit. Everything from the call center to my service advisor was a great experience. I will only be trusting my Corvette with Merit Chevrolet. I will gladly drive 100 miles for quality service!
