“This was my first time at Carmax Fremont and I had a really great experience in the service department. I generally get my car serviced at Carmax, but the LA locations, so I was a bit hesitant to give another location a try.
I gave Carmax in Fremont a call and the employee that helped me out over the phone was very nice and knowledgeable. She was able to schedule me in for the date that I needed and offered a quote of the service charges beforehand as well which I really appreciated.
When I arrived, I was greeted and helped right away. The team here is very nice and attentive. The waiting area is clean and comfortable with chargers available, vending machines, etc. I was in & out within an hour for an oil change and tire rotation. Great prices as well. I will definitely be returning to this location when I am due for another service. Thank you Carmax Fremont!”

“I bought my bimmer here recently.
Here are several things that are great about this place:
- They give several days of courtesy period to return the car if you don't like it for any reason. This is absolutely a life saver. You can spend this time to do independent inspections and various testing procedures. I found several issues with my car before and after buying, some of which were subtle. They have handled most of them, and part of which are covered by warranty. So I kept the car.
- Lower prices at purchase. For the car I bought I paid at least 5k less for what it's worth elsewhere, taking into account it's year, low mileage, condition and executive premium packaging. Apart from all the patches and almost a month at service, that was a steal! Currently there is literally no car like this on the market as of now, even if I am willing to pay 10k more !
- Higher prices at sell. For my own car they offered around 5k higher than all other competitors. Their offer was just about the price my friend offered to buy the car from me ( knowing how I babied it for years ).
- Friendly and communicative staff. I have had long conversations with both sales and service people, and they were always responsive, cooperative, reasonable and transparent. Great experience.
- Fast buying experience. Maybe the best I would say.
That being said here are the few improvement suggestions to level up this CarMax game:
- Offer some basic carwash at least. The other times I picked up the car from service it was not washed ( except for the first time when I bought ). Maybe they did that intentionally to not scratch, but anyways.
- Maintain the cars. There are small issues that could have been fixed even before buyer noticed them. Like residues from components, small dents, small scratches, repairs under warranty etc. Take care of them, maybe dedicate a QA person IDK. It is hard at scale, but at least for luxury segment do this.
- Know thy cars. Some folks I chatted lacked expertise in BMWs, even for basic things like how ideal exterior condition should look like, what package is on the car, what features does it have and what it doesn't have.
- If wait times are long offer service at alternative locations. Be a bit scrappy and proactive about options.”

“5 star experience through-out...received a quote on their app, uploaded a few documents and booked a drop-off appointment. The appointment lasted 15 mins, wherein they did a quick inspection, had me sign a bunch of documents, and handed me the check for the amount that was initially quoted. They even booked a Lyft ride back home. Super fast, efficient and hassle free. Loved it”

“I went in to Sell my old car and had a pleasant experience. The online quote was in alignment with the in person quote after reviewing the condition of the car. No haggling whatsoever (an issue I faced when I went into dealerships nearby). The offered price was also better than the traditional dealerships.
Took about 1.5 hours total to sell my vehicle and get the check in hand. Highly recommend checking out CarMax in Fremont.”

“I had a great experience getting the appraisal and selling my car. Ra helped me and she was very organized and courteous. She walked me through the whole process step by step. Wait time was communicated clearly (1.5 hours). They also booked a Lyft ride for me back home.”
