“Had the BEST experience! I was a little nervous as I was driving 3 hours for a Subaru I had never seen. Although I was not interested in that one, there were so many other Subarus to choose from in my price range. They were fantastic about helping me find the right one. I had them pull out at least 6 different cars, pull carfax & asked 1,000 questions. Even tho they were very busy, they immediately helped me with a smile! They were fun, personable and very helpful! After I got home, I noticed a problem with the back hatch. They answered my message right away and immediately ordered and sent the part right to me! All in all, awesome selection! So nice to view so many of what I was looking for in the same place! Awesome customer service! And I will for sure be getting my next vehicle here! Totally worth the drive!”

They took the time to answer all my questions and never made me feel pressured. The vehicle was exactly as described, fairly priced, and in excellent condition. On top of that, they fixed the heating control panel even though they weren’t required to—and they did it for free. That level of customer care really stood out to me. I truly appreciate the transparency and excellent service, and I would definitely recommend Dakota Motors to anyone looking for a reliable vehicle and a smooth buying experience!”

“If you're looking for a great deal on a Subaru, go here! It's a bit of a drive, but it's totally worth it. They had so many cars to choose from AND their website was up to date. No driving an hour only to be told, no that car's sold. They were quick and will try to find you the best rate for financing.”

“I’ll start by saying I share some responsibility for this experience. Dakota Motor Company already has numerous negative Google reviews, and I was warned by a family friend who also had a bad experience. I should have known better.
I purchased a 2016 Honda Pilot EX-L from Dakota Motor Company, and the vehicle was sold in a condition that should never have passed a competent pre-sale inspection. The brake pads were at approximately 3 mm, the battery installed was not properly rated for the vehicle, causing electrical issues, and there was a tire with a slow leak—all basic items that should have been addressed before sale.
I also identified a leaking water pump during the test drive. While the dealership replaced the water pump and timing belt, they used aftermarket parts, not OEM, something multiple professionals have since advised against for this kind of work. What I initially thought was a good-faith repair now appears to have been a cost-cutting decision rather than a quality one.
After purchase, the vehicle developed a knocking noise. My local mechanic identified it as an internal engine issue as well as metal shavings in the engine oil. The vehicle came with a 30-day powertrain warranty, and I am now 40 days from purchase.
When I contacted the owner, Ryan, it took about 25 minutes of rambling ambiguity on the phone to get a clear answer. He eventually stated that if the issue was related to their repair, they would address it, but if it was an internal engine issue, it would be entirely my responsibility. While I understand warranty limits, the lack of directness and accountability was disappointing.
Overall, the inspection, repair choices, and communication reflect a level of care I would expect from amateurs rather than a professional dealership. Once the sale was complete, support effectively disappeared.
If you value transparency and competent service, take the existing reviews seriously and look elsewhere.
Update:
While communication was frustrating and the warranty terms are understood, the primary concern remains the condition of the vehicle at sale and the seriousness of the issues that emerged days later.”

“This place is the absolute best!! Sam and Bart were both phenomenal. I traveled from out of state and Sam put this deal together over the phone and made me feel confident enough to make the trip. Not only did Samm do exactly what he said he would do. He was able to get me a lower interest rate when I arrived, which was a true blessing.
