“First-time attempted customer, will not be returning. I cannot recommend to anyone else enough, please avoid this place at all costs. Their entire business model is to make the entire car-buying process as misleading, confusing, and awful as possible, so you don’t realize you got a bad deal until you’ve already signed the papers. They advertise as being “up to $3,000 less” than other car companies, with a no-hassle, no-negotiation approach, but in my experience, that was an outright lie.
First, they post the car prices low to make you think you are getting a good deal, and get you in the door. Then they hit you with a mandatory $699 “appearance package” that every car is required to pay for. After looking through the paperwork I realized they had a line item reading “adjusted market price” which included the original price of the car AND the appearance package. Which means they are using the appearance package to artificially reduce the price posted to customers while simultaneously increasing the end price reported for all other purposes. So just know that any car price you see posted, it is automatically almost $700 more expensive than that.
Secondly, they have a variety of “warranty” packages that they STRONGLY push you to buy. Their comprehensive warranty that ends up costing almost $3500, and I was told that even though this warranty isn’t “mandatory” but that my entire deal was contingent on me purchasing this warranty policy. After a quick better business bureau search, I realized how many other people were having issues with this policy, being unable to make claims easily, being given the run-around, and the company made it extremely difficult to cancel. So this completely negates any savings from the “$3000 less than other car companies” listed price.
Thirdly, they require you to finance your car with them, and will not consider outside financing, even from your bank. This is so they can control the terms, but also to prevent you from comparison shopping to get a better rate. My bank was offering 5.99% interest loans, EchoPark was only offering 7.19% with an EXCELLENT credit score. They are not able to articulate most if not all of the items listed under “fees,” when I asked them to remove the cost of registering my car, because I planned on doing that myself, it took them three attempts at altering the “fees” portion of my contract, and each time they came back with three different numbers.
Next, they do everything on tablets, so you can’t go back and look at previous screens or previous offers, and this is designed to make things deliberately confusing. When I started to write numbers down, the salesman, Brian, got very flustered and started saying things like “well I’m not a lawyer, but since you’re writing things down, I have to let you know that these numbers might change a bit in the final draft.” This was a HUGE red flag. At one point, he handed me the tablet and said “here, these numbers are final” however, when I clicked on the small box to reveal what my loan terms would be, I was shocked to find out that my interest rate had suddenly jumped from 7.19% to 9.99%! If I had just signed without checking, I would be in a horrible position right now.
When I asked to see written details, like with the warranty’s cancellation policy, they weren’t able to give me anything in writing, and instead the salesman used his phone to do a GOOGLE AI SEARCH to use as proof for what he was saying.
Finally, I walked out of there feeling phenomenally disrespected. The salesman, Brian, talked down to me the entire time I was there, and his demeanor got even worse after my husband left to feed our pets. He called me neurotic, and insisted I was letting my anxiety get the better of me, just because I was suspicious of their underhanded tactics, and I was looking at all of the numbers carefully.”

“Raul was a great sales rep to Bea and I. Upon speaking with him a few times on the phone and following our first in-person meeting, we were able to leave Echo Park that very day with a car that my partner and I were both satisfied with. He was very accommodating, approachable, but most of all, helpful and informative. After ultimately coming to a decision on what car we wanted, he was able to walk us through numbers and all the necessary paperwork in a breeze. We thank him and all the staff at Echo Park for helping us go home with a great deal on a nice car.”
