“Do not buy a car from CarMax, just a bought a 2018 Nissan Titan SV one week ago, right off the bat it starting having trouble starting, the push to start button works sometimes and sometimes it takes 5 to 15 times to start, every other day this happens, so I recorded the issue happening on my phone and took it back to CarMax service department they look at and said they couldn’t find any problems with ignition and the intermittent starting problem didn’t happen to them so they gave me the truck back and the next day it happened to me again, for the fifth time every other day and this time it 25 try’s to start the truck! Really regret buying this truck from CarMax!”

“Was looking for a vehicle to check out the condition. In this case, the car was previously a rental before it was most likely sold at an auction by the rental car agency to CarMax.
It is believed that the CarMax prices are generally 10% higher than other dealers. In my opinion and experience, it may generally be better to sell a car to CarMax, than buying one there. However, a lot of people prefer the fixed-price no haggling approach of CarMax. There is no back and forth, discussing the price with sales manager, or "dealer-installed" add-ons.So, no pressure and straight forward sales policy is very enticing to most buyers.”

“CarMax Buena Park should seriously retrain their employee named Beto. He was extremely rude and unprofessional. I came to sell two cars and also to buy one. I asked to see a Toyota Sequoia and Toyota Sienna. He rushed my family, walked far ahead of us, and showed no basic respect while we were with two small children.
He rushed me while viewing the cars, handled the seats aggressively, and even said I should go to Toyota because he works for CarMax, not Toyota. At the Sienna, he locked the car and told me to go home and research before coming back if I didn’t already know which car I wanted. This was shocking and unacceptable customer service.
I asked to speak with a manager and was thankfully transferred to Hector, who was professional, kind, and extremely helpful. Because of him, I was able to choose a Grand Highlander. CarMax didn’t have it, but Hector kindly referred me to a Toyota dealer.
In the end, I successfully purchased a 2026 Toyota Grand Highlander Platinum. Huge thanks to Hector for saving this experience. CarMax should seriously retrain Beto — his behavior was unacceptable.”

I recently sold my car to CarMax, and the whole process was smoother than I ever expected — definitely worth sharing!
🕒 The entire process took less than an hour. I submitted my car info online and quickly received an initial quote. When I went to the store, they did a quick free inspection, and within 15 minutes, they confirmed the offer — which was almost exactly the same as the online estimate. Very fair!
✅ No pressure, no upselling. At no point did anyone try to negotiate or push me into buying another car. They handled everything professionally and efficiently.
📄 Simple paperwork. I just brought my car, keys, title, and driver’s license. CarMax handled all the DMV paperwork — super easy and stress-free.
