“This is a real review, no bs. I got a bmw from CarMax, and I LOVE IT! Everything was so simple and easy. The communication was great all the way through. They delivered my car to me for free because it under the 60mile range. The pictures they showed online of scratches on the car I brought weren’t even as noticeable in person and my car is white. I’ll definitely deal with CarMax from now on.”

“After visiting CarMax and understanding their business model I felt it was not a win/win because they set the price on the vehicle you are interested in and the appraisal for your trade in. I’ve purchased vehicles for 40 years and never encountered this type of business model. Since I was having a challenge finding a particular truck and they had it I thought I’d give them a try. First thing was the appraisal process. The appraiser knocked off $3k because he said he heard a noise from the engine compartment. I couldn’t hear what he was referring to. The manager a real nice guy came out and told me since I just had it serviced to have Nissan service department check it and document confirming the engine sound was normal. I took it to Nissan and they confirmed it was the normal sound of the engine. The manager honored the original offer. Ok now the truck I wanted to purchase there was a missing removable speaker on the dashboard. I inquired about it and at first the manager for sales department said either they could purchase a replacement or I could and get reimbursed. I was ok with that. I wanted day to think about it. The manager held the vehicle for me an extra day. I had paid to have it transferred to their location so I was grateful for that. The next day I called my salesman and he called out for the day. He advised me I could call the call center and work through them. I told him I rather work with him since I started the process with him. The following day I took off early from work so we could finished the deal. I reminded my salesman what the manager agreed to do with the missing speaker. He said let me check. He returned and said he was told if the speaker was not their that means it was not purchased with the sound system. Now on the dashboard there is area made for the speaker to drop into the slot. They were not truthful with sharing that info and I knew because I had done my research at the dealership and online. I felt insulted that they would tell me something like that. The trucks that do not have the upgraded sound system has a smooth dashboard with no slot for a speaker.After going back and forth with that then I’m told the truck was not available it’s set to be transfer. Why this was not told to me before I took off early from work? No apology was given just if I want to look for another vehicle let them know. No thanks. That was a horrible experience from start to the end.”

Before coming to CarMax, we checked some small local dealerships (like Prime Motors) and were shocked — they tried to add $10,000 on top of the price and push us into a bad deal. That experience made us appreciate CarMax even more.
Here we found our beautiful 2019 BMW 530i. The purchase process was quick and stress-free, and while the paperwork is still being finalized, we already feel confident and satisfied with our choice.

“UPDATE: ***The store manager reached out to apologize for trouble and covered the full invoice. He also provided me with a different location to work with in the future and i have not had any other issues.*** This has been one of the worst customer service experiences I have experienced in a while. I drove 6 hours to buy a car on 06/13. The check engine light came on on 06/15. I took the car to my local carmax and was advised to take the car back to where I got it. I explained that was a 6 hour drive. The representative told me it would be about a month before they could get me in. I was setup with an appointment at Goodyear. After waiting 4 hours I was advised they didnt know what the problem is and I needed to take the car to toyota. I called carmax back upset and explained the situation. They offered me a rental car and once the appointment was made to call them back. I advised that i needed a spare key for my car. I was told carmax could approve a spare key for the inconvenience. I was able to get an appointment at toyota the following week. I was told I would get a rental car. When I dropped my car off. Guess what I was unable to reach anyone to get the next steps after I dropped off the car. I ubered home. I needed to leave the car overnight. I reached out multiple times and got no answer. I received a call back at 2 pm when I asked about my car the representative was very nice but had no clue what was happening. I asked if carmax had covered the fees so I can pick up my car from the shop. They said yes and guess what happened when I went to the shop. Only part of the bill was covered. This had been a terrible process. Multiple locations and people who dont care. I received a call today 06/28 to advise me they cant find some of my paperwork and had not sent me a check to pay my taxes for the car. So I have a car I cant even register with the state at this point.”
