What is the 2022 Nissan Versa?

With plenty of room for four adults and a roomy trunk offering as much as 15 cu. ft. of cargo space, the 2022 Nissan Versa is an entry-level small car that thinks big. Not only is it roomy enough for a family, but the 2022 Versa also has a sense of style frequently lacking in basic, less expensive vehicles. Plus, it has a fuel-efficient powertrain and gets good crash-test ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), and five stars from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

2022 Nissan Versa Trim Levels and Configurations

Available only as a four-door sedan with a four-cylinder engine and front-wheel drive, the 2022 Nissan Versa is available in three trim levels. Here are the standard equipment highlights:

Nissan Versa S — The base model comes with a five-speed manual transmission. If you can’t operate a manual gearbox, you can get a continuously variable transmission (CVT), but then the base price rises to within $1,200 of the better-equipped Versa SV.

Standard equipment on the Versa S includes 15-inch steel wheels, power-adjustable exterior mirrors, cruise control, power door locks with remote keyless entry, power windows, air conditioning, a tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel, cloth seats, and a height-adjustable driver’s seat. The infotainment system has a 7-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, a hands-free text-messaging assistant, USB ports, and four stereo speakers.

Driver assistance and safety features include forward-collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, automatic high-beam headlights, automatic rear braking, and a tire-fill alert system.

Nissan Versa SV — The Versa SV has a standard CVT plus 16-inch alloy wheels, heated exterior mirrors, hands-free keyless entry, push-button engine starting, and an upgraded appearance inside and out. The SV trim also has premium cloth upholstery, a 60/40-split folding back seat, and an improved infotainment system with a 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and SiriusXM satellite radio. Safety technology includes blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, a driver monitoring system, and a rear-seat reminder system.

Nissan Versa SR — Move up to the Versa SR for larger 17-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, LED turn signal indicators on the side mirrors, and a rear spoiler. The SL trim level also includes remote engine starting, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, sport cloth upholstery, simulated leather on the dashboard, and six stereo speakers.

Nissan Versa Competitors for 2022

Few small cars remain available to consumers, allowing this subcompact sedan to dominate its shrinking segment. This year, the Versa’s only remaining competitors include the Chevrolet Spark, Hyundai Accent, Kia Rio, and Mitsubishi Mirage.

My first word was “car.” That’s what I’m told, anyway. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been obsessed with them. The design. The engineering. The performance. And the purpose. I’m a car enthusiast who loves to drive, but I’m also most interested in the cars, trucks, and SUVs that people actually buy. Anybody can tell you that a sports car is fast. What you need to know is whether or not you should buy that new SUV, and why. My life purpose is to help you make that decision.
