What Is Chevrolet Certified Pre-owned?
Chevrolet buyers get a comprehensive inspection, two warranties and peace of mind when buying CPO.

Buying a new car can be out of budget for many people. However, buying a used vehicle often means inheriting some other owner’s mechanical problems. For those who want a reliable used car, there is one trusted way to go: certified pre-owned (CPO). Each manufacturer has its own criteria for CPO vehicles, and here’s how Chevrolet plays the game.
What makes a Chevrolet Certified Pre-Owned?
For a Chevrolet to be eligible for the CPO program, it must be less than six years old (based on the date when it was first sold) and have fewer than 75,000 miles on its odometer. It must also have a clean title and a vehicle history report free of major concerns.
To ensure quality, every Chevrolet CPO vehicle goes through a 172-point inspection. Chevrolet technicians will perform any required maintenance like changing the oil or topping off fluids. They will give a full inspection of the engine, transmission, suspension components, brakes, and drivetrain. If there are any safety recalls, technicians will rectify them before the dealer offers the car for sale as CPO.
The Chevrolet CPO warranty
Each certified pre-owned Chevrolet gets a six-year/100,000-mile powertrain limited warranty, good from the original in-service date. If you’re buying a car that is five years old, you only have one year left on that warranty. Every vehicle also includes a one-year/12,000-mile bumper-to-bumper limited warranty.
Note that this warranty does not cover tire damage, damage due to improper maintenance, or vehicle misuse.
Other Chevrolet CPO perks
Chevrolet CPO buyers also get a scheduled maintenance program, but visits must occur within two years or 24,000 miles—whichever comes first—from the date of CPO sale. Services include oil and filter changes, tire rotation, and multipoint inspection. The CPO program provides roadside assistance and courtesy transportation for the duration of the six-year/100,000-mile warranty. Buyers receive a free vehicle history report and can return their CPO Chevrolet within three days or 150 miles if they are not completely satisfied.
Finally, Chevrolet CPO vehicles also get a limited one month trial of OnStar services, including advanced diagnostics, automatic crash response, and turn-by-turn navigation. Drivers can also unlock the doors and start the car remotely from a smartphone, as long as the car has automatic door locks and a factory-installed remote start system. If owners select a paid plan after 15 days of activation, they’ll get an additional two months of OnStar for free. Further, buyers will get a three-month trial subscription to SiriusXM in equipped cars like the Chevrolet Blazer.
