The manual transmission is a dying breed on automotive order sheets. But a fair number of cars still provide the option to use your left foot on the clutch, and shift gears yourself. Here's a roundup of every new manual transmission car on the market.
Acura
2023 Acura Integra
If cars were on your radar in the 1990s, the Acura Integra likely registered a blip thanks to the way it paired refinement and performance in an affordable package. A recent reboot not only revived the Integra name, but it also seems to have sparked an interest in manual transmissions. Early adopters were reported to have favored Integras with the optional six-speed manual transmission by a wide margin. Starting around $37,000.
BMW
2023 BMW M2
Potentially one of the last BMWs to ever boast a manual gearbox and a trio of pedals, the M2 is a fitting swan song. This zippy coupe is the brand's smallest, rear-drive two-door, and it boasts a rip-roaring 453 horsepower, chiseled styling, and a relatively lithe curb weight of around 3,800 lbs. Starting at about $63,000.
BMW
2023 BMW M3/M4
The M3 compact sports sedan and its M4 coupe equivalent can be motivated by a twin-turbocharged six-cylinder engine good for 473 hp, along with rear-wheel drive (RWD) and a six-speed manual gearbox. Starting around $75,000.
Cadillac
2023 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing
Featuring a 472-hp twin-turbo V6, the CT4-V Blackwing compact luxury sports sedan also comes with RWD and a six-speed manual transmission. Starting at about $62,000.
Cadillac
2023 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing
The CT5-V Blackwing sedan is one size up from its CT4-V Blackwing sibling. A supercharged V8 sends 668 hp to the rear wheels via a six-speed stick shift. Starting at about $93,000.
Chevrolet
2023 Chevrolet Camaro
A pillar of the traditional Detroit muscle car trio, the Camaro coupe provides a six-speed manual transmission in each trim: from the base turbo four-cylinder (275 hp) to its mid-level V6 (335 hp) to the V8 in the SS (455 hp), finishing with the supercharged V8 (650 hp) in the ZL1. Starting around $28,000.
Dodge
2023 Dodge Challenger
Buyers can spec a six-speed shift-it-yourself transmission if you order the Dodge midsize coupe with RWD and a V8 engine. This includes the 372-hp R/T, the 485-hp R/T Scat Pack, and the potentially neck-aching 717-hp SRT Hellcat. Trims that offer a manual transmission start around $42,000.
Ford
2023 Ford Mustang
A six-speed manual gearbox is still available in a Mustang. Either as a compact coupe or convertible. Engine choices include a 310-hp EcoBoost turbo-four, a 450-hp V8 in the GT trim, or the coupe-only 470-hp Mach 1. Starting at about $29,000.
Honda
2023 Honda Civic
Honda offers a six-speed manual on its Civic compact car, but you'll need to narrow down this broad lineup to find one. The cheapest way into a clutch pedal is with the Civic Sport hatchback with 158 hp, though another $5k buys the Sport Touring trim's 180-hp engine and a bevy of luxury goodies. Honda makes a manual mandatory with its 200-hp Civic Si and its all-out 315-hp Civic Type R. Manual Civics start at about $27,000.
Hyundai
2023 Hyundai Elantra N
The highest-performance version of the compact Elantra sedan comes with a six-speed stick shift. The Elantra N offers 276 hp from a turbo-four unit. Starting at about $34,000.
Kia
2023 Kia Forte GT Manual
The Forte compact sedan makes it easy to suss out which model if you want to use a clutch pedal. The sporty GT Manual is the only trim that offers a six-speed manual gearbox standard, paired with a turbocharged 201-hp, four-cylinder engine. Starting around $26,000.
Mazda
2023 Mazda 3 Hatchback 2.5 S Premium
Only a single compact Mazda 3 trim is available with a six-speed manual gearbox: the hatchback body style with the 2.5 S Premium trim. It's powered by a 191-hp naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine. Starting around $30,000.
Mazda
2023 Mazda MX-5 Miata
The MX-5 Miata is powered by a 181-hp four-cylinder engine. More importantly, a six-speed manual transmission is available with every one of its trims, regardless of whether the roadster is ordered with a soft top or its optional power-retractable hardtop. Starting at about $29,000.
Mini
2023 Mini Hardtop/Convertible
After a brief hiatus in 2022, BMW's bite-size Mini brand once again offers a manual transmission on several models. Mini wants $1,500 more for an automatic transmission, too, which makes the manual gearbox just that much easier to justify. Starting at about $24,000.
Nissan
2023 Nissan Versa S
Stick with the entry-level S trim if you want to sample the subcompact Versa sedan's five-speed manual. The gearbox pairs with the same 122-hp four-cylinder engine found in the rest of the small Nissan's lineup. Starting around $17,000.
Nissan
2023 Nissan Z
The redesigned Z provides a six-speed manual gearbox with its 400-hp twin-turbocharged V6 engine, making it one of the few two-seat sports cars at its price point to let drivers shift gears on their own. Starting around $42,000.
Porsche
2023 Porsche 718 Boxster/Cayman
Porsche's mid-engine sports car twins can be had with a six-speed manual regardless of which trim level is ordered. This means you can choose to shift for yourself whether you order the 300- or 350-hp turbocharged four-cylinder engines or the 394- or 414-hp six-cylinder motors. Starting around $70,000.
Porsche
2023 Porsche 911

Horsepower figures begin at 443, all from a twin-turbocharged six-cylinder engine. Starting around $133,000.
Subaru
2023 Subaru BRZ/2023 Toyota GR86
The Subaru BRZ and the Toyota GR86 2+2 sports cars ride on the same RWD platform and deliver a similar driving experience, albeit with slightly different styling and features. Another commonality is the presence of a six-speed manual transmission that matches with the 228-hp four-cylinder motor. Starting around $30,000 (BRZ) or $29,000 (GR86).
Subaru
2023 Subaru Crosstrek
If you want a Crosstrek with a manual gearbox, act fast! The redesigned 2024 version discards with the six-speed stick that was available on the base and mid-level Premium trims. The rugged 2023 model boasts 8.7 inches of ground clearance and standard all-wheel drive (AWD), though opting for the manual means you'll have to forgo Subaru's EyeSight suite of advanced safety tech. Starting at around $25,000.
Subaru
2023 Subaru Impreza
The compact Impreza Sedan and 5-Door hatchback body styles are available with a five-speed manual transmission and standard AWD. That gearbox is only available in Base Sedan and Base 5-Door or Sport 5-Door trims, which feature a 152-hp four-cylinder engine. Starting around $21,000.
Subaru
2023 Subaru WRX

Toyota
2023 Toyota GR Corolla
The Toyota Corolla nameplate may conjure ideas of frugal commuting, but if you want a manual transmission with one, in 2023 you must elect the 300-hp GR Corolla in all of its sporty AWD glory — a far cry from its budget-friendly, non-GR counterparts. Starting around $37,000.
Toyota
2023 Toyota Supra
Want a sports car with German power, rear-wheel drive, and swoopy styling? You don't necessarily have to look for a BMW showroom. Instead, head toward a Toyota dealer, where you'll find the GR Supra that the Japanese automaker developed in partnership with BMW. (The Germans call their version Z4.) To get a six-speed manual transmission, you'll have to upgrade to the 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged inline-six, but with 382 hp on offer, it's a worthy upgrade. Starting around $55,000.
Volkswagen
2023 Volkswagen Golf
The front-drive GTI and the AWD R are the lone versions of VW's compact four-door Golf hatchback sold in the U.S. Both come standard with a six-speed manual and a turbocharged four-cylinder engine, with the GTI sporting a 241-hp tune and the R stepping up with a healthy 315-hp version.
