QuickTakes:
Built on the same platform by the same parent company, the Honda Civic and Acura Integra sedans share many components, yet one is decidedly mainstream while the other is entry-level luxury. Which offers more bang for the buck: the Civic's top-of-the-line Touring model or the base Integra? Here we explore what each lineup has to offer for around $30,000.
Honda
Honda Civic Touring vs. Acura Integra: Powertrain
Both vehicles feature the same turbocharged, 1.5L, four-cylinder engine, but Acura tunes it differently to produce 20 hp more than the Civic, which makes 180 hp. As a result (at least in part), the Integra performs a little worse in fuel economy with a combined EPA rating of 33 mpg, whereas the Civic sees 34 mpg. Further, the Acura requires premium fuel, while the Honda takes regular gasoline.
Honda Civic Touring vs. Acura Integra: Features
Both models come standard with heated front seats, blind-spot monitoring, and adaptive cruise control. With the Civic Touring being at the top end of the trim spectrum, it boasts several niceties like leather seats, wireless smartphone mirroring and charging, an upgraded 9.0-inch infotainment touchscreen, multiple USB ports in the front and rear, built-in navigation, and a premium 12-speaker Bose audio system. In contrast, the base Integra has leatherette seats, cable-required Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, a 7-inch touchscreen, one USB port, and an eight-speaker stereo. Navigation and leather seating aren't even available on the Acura.
Acura
Honda Civic Touring vs. Acura Integra: Price
The price difference between the two is relatively small—just $1,650, with the Civic Touring starting at about $30,300 and the Integra around $32,000. As noted above, though, the former comes with more stuff than the latter. You can’t equip the Acura with all the features of the Civic Touring, but the roughly $37,000 Integra A-Spec with Technology package comes closest, offering a 9-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, cable-free phone charging, and a 16-speaker stereo (plus a few things you won’t find on the Honda, such as adaptive dampers and a head-up display).
Honda Civic Touring vs. Acura Integra: What’s the Better Buy?
The Civic Touring has the better feature set, lower price, and more efficient powertrain. That said, the Integra isn't so different that you should automatically disregard it. Perhaps you'd prefer its distinctive styling and rowdier engine. Plus, Acura provides better coverage, with a four-year/50,000-mile basic warranty and a six-year/70,000-mile powertrain warranty. Honda offers a three-year/36,000-mile limited warranty and a five-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty on the Civic.
