2024 Subaru Crosstrek: What We Know So Far
Retaining its rugged roots, Subaru's compact crossover gains more interior and safety tech.

The cross-trainer of Subaru’s lineup sees a much larger available touchscreen and newly standard driver-assistance tech as part of its latest model-year redesign. The 2024 Subaru Crosstrek sticks with its high-riding hatchback stance. If you could peer under its contrasting fender flares and lower body trim you’d find that it is, more or less, a high-riding version of the automaker’s Impreza, just like the previous versions.

But buyers have spoken, since the Crosstrek has historically outsold the Impreza. Last year alone the crossover out-sold the car by a margin of about 5 to 1.
Let’s dive into the new Crosstrek, which makes its official debut at the 2023 Chicago Auto Show.

2024 Subaru Crosstrek: Big tech upgrades inside
While the Crosstrek’s exterior styling echoes the outgoing model, its interior is where the biggest changes lie. Base models have a pair of stacked 7.0-inch touchscreens to handle audio and climate controls, while the mid level Premium version ushers in a single 11.6-inch touchscreen.
While every Crosstrek includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, those with the bigger screen now add wireless connectivity.

All models now come with the automaker’s EyeSight suite of crash-avoidance and driver-assistance tech, including automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keeping assist. Blind-spot monitors are optional on Premium and Sport trims and standard on the range-topping Limited.
The top-end model also offers navigation and a Harman/Kardon audio system.

Crosstrek power and capability
Subaru divides the 2024 Crosstrek into two separate camps. Base and Premium versions use a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 152 hp, while Sport and Limited models swap in a bigger 2.5-liter four-cylinder rated at 182 hp.
All versions come with all-wheel drive as standard equipment. The only transmission offered for 2024 is a continuously variable automatic. Last year’s manual transmission option has been shelved.
With 8.7 inches of running ground clearance and an improved departure angle over last year’s model, the Crosstrek should retain its status as a four-wheeler’s best friend. Sport versions add Snow/Dirt and Deep Snow/Mud traction control settings, too.

2024 Crosstrek pricing
Including a mandatory destination charge, the 2024 Crosstrek starts around $26,000. That price tag essentially holds the line compared to last year’s model, at least when the previously optional automatic transmission is factored in.
The Crosstrek Premium runs about $27,500, and it adds keyless access with push-button start, additional USB inputs, the 11.6-inch touchscreen, and roof rails. Subaru bundles heated seats, a power moonroof, blind-spot monitors, and a power-adjustable driver’s seat for about $2,200 more.

From there, the roughly $30,000 Crosstrek Sport swaps in the more powerful engine plus a wireless device charger and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. It also features various yellow interior and exterior accents.
Topping the lineup, the Crosstrek Limited begins at about $32,000 with its leather upholstery and standard blind-spot monitors. With navigation, a moonroof, and Harman/Kardon speakers, the Crosstrek range tops out at about $34,500.
