A Little Disappointed

06/10/2025

My wife and I purchased a new 2023 Ford Escape Hybrid ST-Line in December 2023. Overall we're very happy with the vehicle but a couple of things make our decision a little disappointing. First, we keep having issues with the Rear Lift Gate. We've taken it in twice and it still doesn't work all the time. When we open the Rear Hatch it opens about a foot then stops. The second issue we've been fighting is the Entertainment System. We've had too many issues to list here. After about a year and a half, the problems have quieted down but every once in awhile it acts up. The big issue we're very concerned about is the engine. Since we purchased the vehicle we've read articles online about the two Turbo Charged engines for the NON Hybrid models. Evidently they are not very reliable engines and many people say they don't last more than 100,000 miles. The Hybrid Engine is different from the NON Hybrid motors and it's not turbo charged. We've read a wide spectrum of descriptions from the motor isn't very reliable to it's so reliable there haven't been any reported issues. We haven't had any issues with the motor so far so we're keeping out fingers cross the latter is true. Other than these issues, the vehicle is fun to drive. The seats are very comfortable. The Engine Modes are a nice touch, especially the Sport Mode, that I use most often. The interior is designed very nicely and we like the dashboard layout a lot! Overall we're very pleased with the Escape Hybrid but we simply could not give it 5 Stars based on the issues we've run into. I would also alert people reading this to be careful when reading reviews for the Escape. The regular Escape is a much different animal than the Hybrid model. The engines are completely different and even though there are many like parts, the Hybrid is a different vehicle.

Buyer beware!

03/20/2025

Ford knows this car and engine is junk! They refuse to do anything about it until forced to by legal action. If you own Ford escape get ready for a $7000. Bill for a new engine. This car falls apart at 50,000 miles. Buyer beware!
