Smooth ride, great mpg

I’ve had the vehicle for two weeks. My first plug-in hybrid. I wish the charge lasted longer/regeneration was more efficient. But I’m averaging well over 30 mpg, and even hit 99.9mpg on a short drive. Great features- everything I could want.

Feeling lucky

So, I bought this because I have solar panels that generate more electricity than my house consumes, wanted to dip my toes in the waters of electric vehicles and had employment contract and tax considerations that made this a surprisingly inexpensive choice for me. I have two big dogs that wouldn't fit into a Tesla. If you are interested in an upper end minivan, I think this is a good choice. Pretty much the only option I didn't get was the full length sunroof. The sound system is amazing. The video screens are essential kid distracters, if you haven't given up yet as a parent and just attached them to an ipad or phone. The DVD player is glitchy. I usually hate Chrysler products, but this was the only option that checked all the boxes, and in my situation if it sucked bad enough, I would just sell it and move on. That said, it hasn't broken down on me. About 70% of my driving is electric. The car uses about 3.5 Mw of electricity/year and gets about 31 mpg when the battery gets to it's minimum. You have no control on whether it will use electricity or gas and the car seamlessly flips back and forth. I installed a car charger in my garage to optimize charging (2 hrs vs 11). Over the five years and 75k miles since purchase the battery capacity has declined about 15%. The batteries are made by LG and mine was checked to confirm it (likely) won't catch on fire. I bought a JEEP about the same time, and have had more issues with recalls on that than the Pacifica. Barring any severe breakdown, I anticipate this will be my daughters first driver in a few years. I was really hoping electric car quality, choices and prices would have improved by now, but will hang in there for a few more years.
