Do not buy

02/15/2025

Bought this car last year with 66000 miles with a warranty and it ended up burning oil extremely fast and needing a new engine that was not covered under warranty.

It’s awesome

The car is awesome for the price I loved driving it smooth fast and very stylish. Definitely would recommend the only thing that is average about this car is handling other than that it's a great car and definitely would recommend.

Great, but wait….

So I’ve owned the 2019 Hyundai Elantra SEL in grey for a while now, and while it looks great, it isn’t as nice as you’d think. The car is cheaply made, and the inside feels very flimsy and non-durable. Everything is simple and plastic, there is no complex designs/patterns/materials of manufacturing whatsoever, although the imitation carbon fibre on the gauge cluster and dash were a nice touch. I got rear ended by a different car at low speeds, and the bumper came right off and there were pieces everywhere… the radar for blindspot monitoring was even destroyed. This makes me questions the safety a little bit. On top of that, the speakers aren’t the best, and have no depth or surround to them. I compared this to 2 older Hyundai models I owned, the 2007 Elantra and 2007 Accent, and oh boy were they built tough and to last. The 4 speed in them wasn’t great, compared to the smoothness of the newer 2019 Elantra of course, as it had plenty of power and the gears worked flawlessly. Maintenance is relatively easy on all Hyundais including this one. One thing that disappointed me was how much quality degradation the 2019 Elantra had, and what Hyundai has become with their business model and their GDi engines. Hyundai’s golden years before 2011 were some of the best in the industry and that why I still own an older one. If you’re looking for styling and efficiency (yes the Elantra is very efficient) then it’s fairly hard to beat at this price point, otherwise I’d invest in a Toyota with higher mileage or get a golden age Hyundai and call it a day. Cheers.
