I’m at 150k miles and never had a mechanical issue. Change the oil every 5k miles. Gotta love Toyota!

Great Vehicle, Trouble WIth Bumps

03/03/2024

The mileage makes gas drastically cheaper. We usually only have to refill it once a month and it's mostly used for driving to school and back. It's extremely tough and was hardly affected by a few incidents where we accidentally backed up a little too far. And the metal on the doors only got bent after one time I couldn't get out of a parking garage without scraping a pillar. We've had no issues that weren't due to wear except for one: Part of why my mom gave it to me was because she now lives on an island with bumpy roads and tall speed bumps. It was also severely rusted after being there for about a year or two. Which, granted, happens to most cars. But I suspect that the rust coating got worn off on the bottom when it got scraped. My mom enjoyed the Prius before she moved to the island and primarily used it to commute 20 miles and back to work. Enough that she got three used ones. I'm confident that this car will last long enough (as in, approximately 14 years) for me to graduate and get a job that will allow me to buy my next car. Which may also be a Prius.

The Little Hybrid That Could

01/13/2024

All of our cars are named after dragons, and my little black 2012 Prius C is named Toothless. I bought him new in 2013 and after 11 years I can honestly say he's the best car I've ever owned. He isn't big, he isn't fast, and he isn't luxurious. But he is efficient, and thrifty, and reliable like you wouldn't believe. Consistent 55+ MPG performance. One oil change a year. Zero mechanical problems or maintenance issues, year after year after year. What else could you possibly ask for in a dragon... er... car? Thanks for all the years of loyal service, Toothless.
