What's New for the 2025 Jeep Wrangler 4xe

The 2025 Jeep Wrangler 4xe, a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) SUV, gets minor updates for the new model year after its refresh in 2024. An available Active Cabin Ventilation system brings fresh air into the cabin via the mobile app before you step inside. Additionally, three new colors debut: '41 (inspired by military olive drab), Mojito (a bright green), and Joose (a bright orange), for an extra charge.

There are also a couple of special editions for 2025, including the Willys '41 model, which comes with the new olive drab color and special equipment like a standard rear locker that recalls the original Jeeps built during World War II.

The 4xe offers the expected open-top off-road fun and capability of a traditional Wrangler with improved fuel efficiency and up to 22 miles of electric-only driving range. The trim lineup includes the modern Rubicon X, which has an abundance of features for technical off-roading.

Pros

  • Plug-in hybrid system delivers up to 49 MPGe
  • Experience of an open-top Wrangler
  • A recent refresh added modern tech and a bigger screen

Cons

  • Electric-only range is low
  • Costs more than the gas-only Wrangler

2025 Jeep Wrangler 4xe Trim Levels

Jeep offers the 2025 Wrangler 4xe in seven trim levels: Sport S, Willys, Sahara, Willys '41, Rubicon, Backcountry, and Rubicon X. All Wrangler 4xe variants come exclusively with four doors and four-wheel drive (4WD).

The 4xe stands out from the standard Wrangler with its powerful plug-in hybrid drivetrain. Featuring a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine teamed with two electric motors, the PHEV system supplies 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. Electric power comes from the 17.3-kilowatt-hour (kWh) lithium-ion battery that charges at a maximum rate of 7.2 kilowatts (kW).

  • Sport S

The Sport S is the base model in the Wrangler 4xe range. It has 20-inch aluminum-alloy wheels with 32-inch tires, a full-size matching spare tire, a removable soft top, manually adjustable cloth seats, an eight-speaker stereo system, and a 12.3-inch touchscreen display with integrated Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

  • Willys

The Willys is the Wrangler 4xe's entry-level off-road-oriented model. It adds 33-inch off-road tires, a rear locking differential, LED lighting, and a decal with the Willys name on the sides of the hood.

  • Sahara

The Sahara trim is more upscale. It features body-colored fender flares, remote start, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and a 7.0-inch digital dash cluster display.

  • Willys '41

The Willys '41 is a limited-edition tribute to World War II Jeeps, and is offered only in the olive drab '41 color with 17-inch aluminum wheels. A tan soft top is available.

  • Backcountry

This limited edition adds some off-road features to the upscale Sahara trim, including steel bumpers and rock rails, off-road-focused technology, and a body-color removable hard top.

  • Rubicon

The Rubicon is designed for off-roading, with several technical upgrades. These include front and rear locking differentials, 33-inch off-road tires, a 4WD system designed for extreme off-roading, a heavy-duty rear axle, electronic sway bar disconnects, and steel rock rails.

  • Rubicon X

The Rubicon X adds luxury and technology features to the Rubicon's off-road equipment package. It includes premium leather, 12-way power-adjustable front seats, a body-color removable hard top, and a suite of driver-assistance features that are optional on other models.

2025 Jeep Wrangler 4xe Cargo Capacity and Towing

The Jeep Wrangler 4xe PHEV with all its seats in place offers 27.7 cubic-feet of cargo space, with a maximum cargo capacity of 67.4 cu-ft. This rugged SUV can tow up to 3,500 pounds and has a max payload capacity of 1,270 pounds.

2025 Jeep Wrangler 4xe Fuel Economy

According to the EPA, the 2025 Jeep Wrangler 4xe gets an estimated 49 MPGe in combined city and highway driving on electric and gas power and 20 mpg combined on gasoline only. The estimated electric driving range is 22 miles.

The Wrangler is the only vehicle in its class to offer a PHEV drivetrain. So, the benefit of the Wrangler 4xe is strictly the 22 miles of electric range.

2025 Jeep Wrangler 4xe Review

The plug-in hybrid Jeep offers good real-world battery range when charged but unimpressive gas mileage when not.
