What's New for the 2027 Chevrolet Corvette

Racing heritage and a more powerful standard V8 are the big stories for the 2027 Chevrolet Corvette. Returning to the lineup is the Grand Sport, a fabled motorsports name from the early 1960s, when Chevy produced competition-ready, track-focused Corvettes. With the Grand Sport, an all-new LS6 6.7-liter V8 engine also debuts.

As the 2027 Corvette lineup's new base engine, this next-generation V8 produces 535 horsepower and 520 pound-feet of torque. The Grand Sport X, a hybrid all-wheel-drive (AWD) model that essentially replaces the discontinued Corvette E-Ray, bumps the output to 721 horsepower.

Pros

  • Powerful standard V8 engine
  • Available all-wheel drive
  • Coupe and convertible body styles

Cons

  • No manual transmission
  • Blind-spot monitoring isn't standard

2027 Chevrolet Corvette Trim Levels

Available 2027 Corvette models include the Stingray, Grand Sport, Grand Sport X, Z06, ZR1, and ZR1X. Some of them come in different trim levels, and all are available in either coupe or convertible form. Rear-wheel drive (RWD) and AWD are both available in the 2027 Corvette lineup, depending on the model and trim.

The standard engine is a naturally aspirated 6.7-liter V8 making 535 horsepower and 520 lb-ft of torque. Variants of a 5.5-liter V8 are also available, with the most powerful producing upwards of 1,250 horsepower. All engines are paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The highlights of each model's standard features follow below:

  • Stingray
The Stingray is offered in three trims: 1LT, 2LT, and 3LT. The entry-level Corvette rides on 19-inch front and 20-inch rear aluminum wheels, wrapped in all-season tires. Power-adjustable seats wrapped in leather are standard, along with a 12.7-inch infotainment system with Google built-in, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, and a 10-speaker premium Bose sound system. A camera-based digital rearview mirror improves rear visibility, and parking sensors are standard. The 2LT adds heated and ventilated seats, a front parking camera, and a blind-spot monitoring system with rear cross-traffic alert, among other upgrades. The 3LT equips the Corvette with a more luxurious interior.
  • Grand Sport
Larger 20-inch front and 21-inch rear forged aluminum wheels, wider tires, larger brakes, Magnetic Ride Control (an adaptive damping suspension system), and other performance enhancements are standard for this newly revived Corvette model. Like the Stingray, the Grand Sport comes in 1LT, 2LT, and 3LT trims and features similar equipment.
  • Grand Sport X
The Grand Sport X adds a front-axle electric motor and compact battery pack (eAWD), creating a powertrain that makes 721 hp and 665 lb-ft of torque. Additionally, this model is equipped with two electric-only drive modes: Stealth Mode provides quiet driving up to 50 mph, while Shuttle mode is reserved for non-street use (think driveways and parking garages) and maxes out at 23 mph. The Grand Sport X also comes in 1LT, 2LT, and 3LT trims.
  • Z06
Outfitted with a high-output 5.5-liter V8 producing 670 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque, the Corvette Z06 comes in 1LZ, 2LZ, and 3LZ trims that largely mirror the 1LT, 2LT, and 3LT trims above. It's equipped like the Grand Sport but also features a widebody appearance, a quad-outlet center-exit exhaust system, high-performance brakes, and a performance-tuned Magnetic Ride Control suspension. Summer performance tires are standard fitted to 20-inch front and 21-inch rear Titanium Satin forged aluminum wheels.
  • ZR1
Available in 1LZ and 3LZ trims, the ZR1 features a twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V8 capable of 1,064 horsepower and 828 lb-ft of torque. Unique forged aluminum wheels, carbon-ceramic brakes, LED engine lighting, a performance data and video recorder, and a ZR1-specific Magnetic Ride Control suspension are standard.
  • ZR1X
The top-of-the-line ZR1X is the most powerful Corvette in the lineup, and comes in 1LZ and 3LZ trims. Paired with an electric drive unit for the front axle, it combined with the high-output V8 to produce 1,250 hp and 973 lb-ft of torque. Properly equipped, the ZR1X is capable of a zero-to-60 mph time of less than 2.0 seconds.

2027 Chevrolet Corvette Cargo Capacity

The 2027 Corvette comes with two trunks. One is located in the front, under the hood. The other is between the mid-mounted engine and the rear of the car. Together, they provide 12.6 cubic-feet of cargo capacity. However, the ZR1 and ZR1X offer just 9.1 cu-ft.

2027 Chevrolet Corvette Fuel Economy

According to EPA estimates, a 2027 Corvette Stingray should get 18 mpg in combined city and highway driving. The Grand Sport is slightly less efficient, at 17 mpg. When equipped with the naturally aspirated 5.5-liter V8, the Z06's combined fuel economy drops to 15 mpg. Corvette ZR1 models equipped with the turbocharged V8 return an estimated 14 mpg combined. The EPA hasn't rated the Grand Sport X hybrid model, but the ZR1X hybrid should get 15 mpg combined.
