State by State: Most Financed Vehicles by Capital One Customers in 2026

The 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 was the most financed vehicle by Capital One customers in the United States from January to July 2026. Most of those sales were for new 2026 trucks, so Chevy's pickup also was the most financed new vehicle in the same period.

The 2026 Nissan Rogue was the second-most financed new vehicle among customers from January to July. The 2023 Nissan Rogue was the most financed used vehicle for customers in the same period, reinforcing the SUV's popularity. The 2026 Chevrolet Trax and Tesla Model Y also proved to be popular with Capital One customers during the first half of the year.

These are nationwide figures, however, and the same vehicles didn't necessarily hit the No. 1 spot in every state. In Alabama, for example, the 2026 Nissan Rogue was the most financed new vehicle, while in Illinois, it was the 2026 Chevrolet Trax.

Because Capital One is one of the largest auto lenders in the country, auto expert and analyst Brian Moody said these purchasing behaviors could signal larger trends in the current marketplace.

"I think today’s shoppers are looking for the right combination of price, longevity, value, and size," Moody said. "Every vehicle on this list represents a good value at its respective price point."

Here's a look at these four popular vehicles, from the features they offer to the average price Capital One customers paid from January to July 2026.

Chevrolet Silverado 1500

The Silverado 1500 is a full-size pickup truck that comes with various cab styles, powertrains, and trim levels. The 2026 version features two new paint colors and two special-edition models. Other than that, there are no major changes when compared with the 2025 model year.

"The Chevrolet Silverado has been around for decades and has a good reputation for capability and resale value," Moody said. "The Silverado offers a wide variety of comfort levels — everything from a basic and affordable work truck to the more luxurious High Country trim."

The 2027 model will introduce the next generation for the Silverado. The redesigned truck offers updated exterior styling, new interior displays, and new V8 engines. The 2027 Silverado 1500 will still have an optional turbo-diesel engine and available hands-free highway-driving, which works even when towing.

For the first half of the year, the 2026 Silverado 1500 was the overall top choice for Capital One customers in the U.S. It was the most financed new vehicle in these 14 states: Arizona, Florida, Iowa, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, New Mexico, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Texas, Vermont, and West Virginia.

Nissan Rogue

The Nissan Rogue is a compact SUV that seats up to five people and offers a lot in its affordable package: a comfortable driving experience, ample cargo space, and a generous number of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS).

"For years, the Nissan Rogue has been a go-to midsize SUV for those who want a little more comfort," Moody said. "The Rogue has compelling features and options, like a 360-degree parking camera and a 201-hp turbocharged engine."

The 2026 Nissan Rogue was the second most financed new vehicle by Capital One customers in the first half of the year, while the 2023 Rogue led the used-car list. When comparing vehicle popularity on a state level, the Rogue appears most frequently.

The Rogue will be all new for the 2027 model year and will feature new exterior styling and a new hybrid powertrain system.

For the first half of the year, the 2026 Rogue was the most financed new vehicle in 13 states: Alabama, Connecticut, Georgia, Maine, Maryland, Mississippi, Nebraska, New York, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and Wisconsin.

Chevrolet Trax

The 2026 Chevrolet Trax, a small crossover SUV that seats up to five people, has generous cargo space and a long list of standard equipment, including wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The Trax is also Chevy's least expensive vehicle.

"With prices starting under $25,000 and costing under $30,000 even for a nicely equipped version, the Trax is the perfect new SUV for those who might be closer to a used-car budget," Moody said.

For the first half of the year, the 2026 Trax was the overall top new-car choice for customers in 10 states plus the District of Columbia: Arkansas, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Nebraska, Ohio, and Oklahoma.

Tesla Model Y

The 2026 Tesla Model Y has been the fourth most financed vehicle by Capital One customers so far this year. The electric midsize SUV has seating for up to five people and features a smooth ride, spacious interior, and impressive range.

"The Tesla Model Y hits the intersection of what so many people want: It's a small crossover SUV, it's an American brand, and it has unique tech features," Moody said.

For the first half of the year, this popular 2026 EV was the top new-vehicle choice for customers in 11 states: California, Colorado, Massachusetts, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island, Utah, and Washington.

State-by-State Breakdown

While there's some national consistency in customer purchases, different kinds of drivers in each state have different needs. Customers who live in suburban areas might find themselves logging more daily miles, whereas urban drivers may gravitate toward compact electric vehicles in the name of efficiency. And customers in rural regions could need a vehicle that offers decent towing and payload capabilities.

Here are the most financed new and used vehicles — along with their average sales prices — for Capital One customers from January to July 2026, broken down by state:
