One of Kia's most popular models, the Telluride is a midsize three-row SUV and is arguably one of the most important vehicles the automaker has ever introduced. It debuted for the 2020 model year, has won numerous awards, and brought customers into Kia showrooms who might never have considered the brand. We've been big fans of previous Tellurides — we loved the 2025 model for its abundant safety tech and road-trip prowess. Now, Kia is introducing a redesigned second-generation 2027 Telluride, which goes on sale in early 2026 with numerous improvements.

What's New for the 2027 Kia Telluride?

The Telluride has always looked more upscale than it is, and that continues with the second-generation version. Additionally, the 2027 Telluride lineup boasts standard turbocharged power, an available hybrid model, new technology, and a roomier interior. Kia will offer the new Telluride in LX, S, EX, SX, and SX-Prestige trim levels, with available X-Line appearance and X-Pro off-road packages. Kia will announce prices closer to when the SUV starts rolling off the assembly line in West Point, Georgia.

In addition to its clean new dashboard that wraps into the front doors, the Telluride's interior is quieter than before. Kia claims it uses thicker window glass, triple door seals, and more sound insulation to hush the cabin. Available 12.3-inch digital instrumentation and infotainment display screens add a high-tech look, while the available indirect ambient lighting is meant to soothe occupants after dark.

The Telluride seats up to eight people (seven with the second-row captain's chairs). SynTex artificial leather is standard, with available simulated suede on the more expensive trim levels. A massaging driver's seat; second-row heated, ventilated, and power-operated captain's chairs; and heated third-row seats are available. Kia says it is easier to access the third-row seat, even with child safety seats installed in the second row.

2027 Kia Telluride Cargo Space

The new Telluride is longer than before, and that contributes to additional cargo space. Behind the third-row seat, the SUV offers 22.3 cubic-feet of cargo room (21.3 cu-ft in hybrid models). Fold the third row down to create 46.3 cu-ft of cargo volume. Maximum cargo capacity measures 86.9 cu-ft.

Kia's Connected Car Navigation Cockpit infotainment system is standard in the 2027 Telluride. It equips the SUV with wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto connectivity, and available connected services plans offer a conversational digital voice assistant and the ability to stream Disney+, Netflix, and YouTube entertainment. A 14-speaker Meridian premium audio system is also available.

Dual wireless smartphone chargers enhance family life in the new Telluride. Additionally, the SUV offers a camera-based digital rearview mirror, a 12.0-inch head-up display, and digital key technology compatible with smartphones and smartwatches. A new Connected Garage feature can automatically open and close your garage door as you arrive or leave home.

2027 Kia Telluride Safety Features

The previous-generation Telluride offered plenty of safety technology, and those features carry over into the new SUV. Upgrades include a new front-center airbag and an enhanced Highway Driving Assist 2 (HDA2) system. With HDA2, the adaptive cruise control and lane-centering-assist systems help control the Telluride on highways, and a lane-change-assist function can steer the SUV into the next lane when prompted by the driver.

2027 Kia Telluride Specs

Kia equips the 2027 Telluride with a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. It makes less horsepower than the old V6 engine (274 horsepower versus 291), but produces more torque (311 pound-feet versus 262 lb-ft), so the effect on acceleration is likely to be negligible. An eight-speed automatic transmission powers the front wheels unless you choose the available all-wheel-drive system. When equipped with this engine, the Telluride can tow up to 5,000 pounds.

2027 Kia Telluride Hybrid Specs

How would you like to get an estimated 35 mpg in combined driving and enjoy up to 600 miles of driving between fuel stops? Consider the new Telluride Hybrid, based on the turbocharged 2.5-liter engine. It delivers 329 horsepower and 339 lb-ft to the front or all four wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission. The Telluride Hybrid can tow up to 4,500 pounds.

Get a new Telluride with the X-Pro treatment, and it adds standard all-wheel drive, all-terrain tires, exclusive suspension tuning, and more ground clearance (9.1 inches). An electronic limited-slip differential and Terrain mode help ensure traction, and a new Ground View Monitor operates at speeds under 6 mph to provide a composite view of the ground around and underneath the SUV. Kia's Ground Lighting adds illumination at the campsite after nightfall.
