Infiniti's new two-row luxury SUV offers an eye-catching design, generous legroom, and plenty of standard infotainment tech.

The 2027 Infiniti QX65 is an all-new addition to the luxury brand's lineup, boasting a compelling blend of tech features, interior space, and interesting design details that should help it stand out from the competition. If you imagine the existing QX60 with a roofline that tapers at the rear, no third row, and jazzed-up styling, you've pretty much got it.

2027 Infiniti QX65 Exterior Design

Infiniti said the QX65's design was inspired by the FX SUV sold in the 2000s. That inspiration is most obvious at the rear roofline, where the metal trim arches over the side windows before meeting a pronounced rear "shoulder" over the wheel. The first- and second-generation Infiniti FX had that as well.

2027 Infiniti QX65 Introduces Sunfire Red Paint

The QX65 Autograph trim level I saw was painted in brilliant Sunfire Red. Aside from the candy apple red hue, the paint itself features gold-coated glass flakes, which you can see in the photo above and even from afar in person. It's stunning.

2027 Infiniti QX65 Interior Design

The 2027 QX65 interior shares its dashboard design with the QX60. Though lacking in originality, I think it's a handsome design with interesting details and seemingly solid functionality. 

The Autograph trim, seen here, features the same quilted pattern on the dashboard trim as you'll find in the QX60. It's also on the seats — Infiniti said it's inspired by the layered folds of a kimono.

2027 Infiniti QX65 Infotainment System

The QX65 will come standard with a pair of 12.3-inch displays: one a multi-layout instrumentation panel and the other a touchscreen for the infotainment system. The latter features wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, plus the Google built-in suite of integrated Google Maps, Google Assistant voice controls, and the Google Play app store.

2027 Infiniti QX65 Gets a New Wireless Phone Charger

The QX65 introduces a new wireless phone charger as standard equipment. It adopts the Qi2 standard, which Infiniti said enables faster, more consistent charging. The pad itself features a magnetic mount, which should keep your phone in place (assuming you have an applicable phone and/or case) far better than the usual combined efforts of gravity, friction, and bin walls. There's also a fan that blows on the phone to cool it while charging.

2027 Infiniti QX65 Klipsch Audio Systems

The 2027 Infiniti QX65 is available with two Klipsch audio systems. The Sport trim has a 16-speaker Klipsch sound system with 600 watts of power. The Autograph has a 20-speaker, 1,200-watt Klipsch Reference Premium system that features front headrest speakers. 

The speakers in the driver's seat can isolate audio elements like phone calls and navigation directions while the rest of the system's speakers continue to play music (or let the driver listen to music while everyone else takes a nap).

2027 Infiniti QX65 Back Seat

The Infiniti QX65 back seat is split 60/40, and it not only reclines but slides forward to expand cargo space (or perhaps bring children in car seats a little closer to the front). When it was pushed all the way back, I found abundant legroom — even though I'm 6-foot-3-inches. Also, the seat bottom was set quite high, providing ample under-leg support. Officially, there are 35.7 inches of legroom. 

I found rear headroom to be just barely sufficient under that tapered roofline. The standard panoramic sunroof further reduced space. That said, I could also take advantage of the generous recline capability and position my head well away from the headliner. All told, I think this is a very spacious back seat for the midsize two-row SUV segment.

2027 Infiniti QX65 Cargo Space

The QX65 specs indicate there is 35.8 cubic-feet of cargo space behind the back seat. I suspect that does not take into account the sizable under-floor storage bin, which should be big enough to store one or two duffel bags or multiple grocery bags. 

The overall cargo area is long and wide, helping to counter the tapering roofline. The Infiniti managed to fit one large check-in roller bag, three medium check-in roller bags, one roll-aboard carry-on bag, and a duffel bag inside the cargo area without loading to the roof. In my experience, that's very good for the segment.

2027 Infiniti QX65 Engine Specs

The 2027 QX65 will be powered exclusively by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 268 horsepower and 286 pound-feet of torque. It's paired with a nine-speed automatic and all-wheel drive. The SUV also uses active noise cancellation and simulated engine sounds to eliminate unwanted noise and amplify desirable vroom-vroom powertrain sounds.
