2026 Toyota bZ Woodland First Look

Toyota added a new outdoors-oriented SUV to its lineup of battery electric vehicles.

The 2026 Toyota bZ Woodland Is a Rugged New Electric Vehicle

The bZ Woodland is designed for outdoor but not necessarily off-road adventures. As such, it shares some specifications with the 2026 Toyota bZ SUV, such as its underlying platform and 74.7-kilwatt-hour battery. Like the bZ, the Woodland can charge from 10% to 80% in 30 minutes in ideal conditions using the North American Charging Standard. There are also similarities in both interior and exterior appearance.

The bZ Woodland will come in a single trim that includes standard eAWD and a roof rack. An earthy taupe color called Stepping Stone will be available to fit the outdoor theme, and the front end receives a rugged edge with wide overfenders in a contrasting black color.

Inside, the bZ Woodland has more storage space than the bZ, with an extra 6 inches of length and an additional inch of height in the back, bringing rear cargo space to more than 30 cubic-feet. The interior hues are also on theme and come in Stone Brown or Black.

The Toyota bZ Woodland Is Built for Adventure but Not Off-Roading

While the 2026 Toyota bZ Woodland is designed with an outdoorsy mission, it's not a rock-crawler. The wider overfenders and available all-terrain tires certainly add grip when they turn off the tarmac, but ground clearance is just a fraction of an inch more than the on-road oriented bZ, which gets 8.2 inches of clearance, compared with 8.3 inches on the bZ Woodland. Having 375 horsepower — about 37 horsepower more than the smaller bZ in AWD — may help pull larger loads or get out of sticky situations.

The extra cargo capacity will be useful for drivers with active outdoor hobbies like camping, fishing, or kayaking. However, the off-road improvements are more suited to pulling up to a grassy camping spot or taking the occasional logging road than exploring Moab, Utah.

Standard panoramic exterior cameras with multi-terrain monitoring can help drivers avoid hazards in low-speed driving or when backing down a boat launch. More power and size comes at a cost, however, as the bZ Woodland's range clocks in at a manufacturer-estimated 260 miles. Towing capacity is a respectable 3,500 pounds.

Toyota expects models to arrive at dealerships by early 2026. Pricing will be announced closer to the sale date.
