“Unethical service practices and catastrophic misdiagnosis. I brought my 2016 Honda Civic EX to Thompson Honda because the AC was blowing warm. This model has a notorious, well-documented manufacturing defect involving the AC condenser and compressor shaft seal, which Honda covered under an extended warranty.Instead of properly addressing the core defect, Thompson Honda performed a band-aid repair by only replacing a minor line seal. Because they failed to properly diagnose and replace the leaking factory condenser while it was still under warranty, the system completely lost lubrication over the next few months. This negligence caused the entire AC compressor to overheat and destroy itself.Now, the dealership is refusing to take accountability. They are weaponizing the calendar, claiming the car is suddenly out of warranty by a matter of months, and demanding I pay thousands of dollars out of pocket to fix a catastrophic system failure that THEIR incomplete repair directly caused. This is on top of a vehicle that has already suffered a premature starter failure at 60k miles and a total transmission failure.Taking a vehicle to Thompson Honda means risking a negligent diagnostic that strings you along until your warranty expires so they can stick you with a massive bill. I have escalated this predatory behavior directly to American Honda Motor Co. Corporate Customer Support and am filing a formal complaint with the Indiana Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division. Avoid their service department at all costs.”
