“I know from past experience that CarMax offers less than most other dealerships who purchase cars for cash. I knew that they would low ball me, so I didn't expect to sell it to them or be writing this review. I assumed that I would take their low offer and work upward from there. However, offering me $300 for a car that I can easily sell privately for $2,000 was even lower than I could have possibility imagined. I'm a bit peeved, frankly. There are no hard feelings towards the salesperson, because he was very cordial; and he didn't try to get me to sell the car for that price.
The car is 13 years old, so they won't sell it on their lot, which means they will offer me a wholesale price; but even the low end for a trade-in is $600 on Kelly Bluebook. Moreover, they were very nitpicky in their assessment, finding rust where I can't see it and claiming a branded title where there isn't. There is a small odometer discrepancy due to an oil change where the mileage was reported incorrectly by the technician. According to Google, clerical or reporting errors frequently trigger false red flags on history reports.
At some point, CarMax might be hurting their own brand and customer good will by low balling prospective customers as aggressively as they do. I won't be buying at CarMax if I'm in the market in the future; but I honestly might not have anyway.”

“I've never used a place like this to sell a car before. But they offered several thousand over what Carvana offered. Online process included uploading many documents but that made the in person process smooth and quick. Selling a car is always stressful but they made the experience easy and pleasant. Everyone was very attentive and kind. My mom said that elderly women are often ignored in businesses, but she was beyond impressed at how welcoming and helpful they were for her. Bathrooms were clean and smelled nice, several different waiting areas were stocked with snacks and drinks. (Although they were so quick that we didn't end up having any.) Shout out to Mary at the business office and Alexsys at the signing office for their exceptional help walking us through all the paperwork. It took 33 minutes TOTAL from walking in the door to walking out the door, check in hand. I would absolutely recommend them!”

“I had a great experience at the CarMax in South Jordan. The entire team was friendly and professional, and the service process was smooth from start to finish. I especially want to highlight Hayden, one of the service advisors. He went above and beyond to make sure everything was explained clearly and that I felt confident about the work being done. His communication was excellent, and you can tell he genuinely cares about customers having a positive experience. It’s not often you come across someone who is both knowledgeable and kind, and Hayden made the whole visit stress-free. I’d definitely recommend this location to anyone looking for dependable service.”

“From start to finish, I had an absolutely great experience here. The entire process was smooth, clear, and stress free, which is not something I can usually say about car buying. Whether you are trading in a car, test driving, or purchasing, this is one of the best places you could go. What really impressed me was the honesty and transparency. You are told exactly what you will be asked to pay up front, and that makes all the difference. There were no hidden fees, no unexpected taxes, and no long back and forth haggling that you normally find at other dealerships. Everything was straightforward and laid out clearly, which made the whole process feel much more comfortable and trustworthy.
It honestly felt like such a refreshing change compared to the traditional dealership experience. I left feeling confident and happy with my decision, rather than second guessing what had just happened. On top of that, I want to give a big shoutout to Jake Frink for being such a great sales associate. He was patient, helpful, and professional throughout the entire process. He answered questions directly, provided guidance when I needed it, and never made me feel pressured. His approach made the experience even better, and I truly appreciate the effort he put into making sure everything went smoothly. “Bought a car April 23rd and August 18th I went to start my car only 117 days after purchase & 27 days over the warranty. My battery was dead with only 65k miles. I figured it was just the battery, after 3 hrs at orielly's we had changed the battery & decided to check air filter; which you can see has not been changed recently. I had to put new battery in key fobe & when we couldn't get it to start after changing all that I had it towed & it needed a starter. 27 days over warranty I called the dealership & they said the max care was the only options which I decided not to purchase because it was like 7k. Long story short, I am not impressed at all with car max, I had to wait 3 extra days to get my car because they were doing 125 point inspection.? Really because in 2023 they were sued for not completing these checks.
Clean cabin air filter and a battery should be last atleast 6 months after purchase, this should be a minimum requirement to get customers on the road. Warrantys always come with more charges they the advertise up front and that is my experience. I have found other cars cheaper than I had at car max, but the sales man assured me cars out of cali are the cleanest & was confident that the 125 point inspection was completed.”
